We have cared for this land for the last 20 years - and our ancestors did before us. We initially lived here on the land in a tiny home (before tiny homes existed?!) It is called "The Tamarack Shack" and is a 10x10 cabin that we built by hand. We lived there - without power or water for 3 years. It's still standing, but is home to many critters now. Prior to our stewardship - this 100 acres was a sheep and cattle farm - heavily overgrazed and needing some loving. We've spent the last 2 decades planting 25 000 trees, digging 3 ponds and erecting fencing and out buildings for 15 acres of pasture. We are excited and honoured to share our deep love of this place with you. Come for a visit and fall in love too!A stay at the Camper's Den is an Easy, Breezy Holiday Getaway in the dreamy country wild.  Everything you need is provided (except your food and drinks- but even that can be made for you from local sources!).  All you need to pack is some comfy clothes, walking shoes, and some nibbles and glass-free beverages and you're set.  Let us take care of the rest - so you can rest easy.  If you're looking to getaway for a unique camping experience - but don't want to do the packing part... we are the destination for you and yours. Centered between Ottawa and Toronto - we are a fantastic meet up spot for old friends and offer a gorgeous home-base to re-connect. We offer a unique glamping experience at it's easiest! Nestled in a private corner of our 100 acre property - you'll find your home away from home.  The Camper's Den is extensively prepared with a Prospector Tent (which sleeps 4- see pics), a campfire pit with chairs, an outdoor "kitchen" with ALL the tools you'll desire, 2 moveable picnic tables, and a dry toilet/outhouse facility. Campers have access to the Hobby Farm, maintained trails (see map), the Labyrinth and the "Booby-Trap Tree". There are seasonal ponds and a babbling brook to explore in the spring months.  The Den is a couple minutes walk through the woods to the main house and Hobby Farm - home to cows, pigs, alpacas, goat, sheep, chickens, and ducks. Wildlife sightings of rabbits, turtles and deer happen daily - and keep an eye out for Sasquatch! We have a rambling trail system - both naturalized and bike friendly.  If you are looking for local things to explore; we are located minutes from: the Crowe River, 2 large conservation areas (Crowe River Park and Callaghans Rapids), extensive cycling trails and routes, Churchkey Brewing Company, King's Mill Cidery, The Stirling Buffalo Farm and we are between the towns of Marmora and Campbellford (which is home to "Canada's Sweetest Bakery" and The Westben Theatre)

We had a great time here! Jules laid out our beds, prepped the campfire and the heating stove and greeted us warmly when we arrived. My boys loved saying hi to the farm animals :) The tent is spacious and cozy. The cooking area is well equipped. The firewood is well stocked. About the only thing we weren't thrilled with were the things nobody can control (aka: mosquitoes & ticks) - however, some basic precautions and liberal amounts off Off ... and we had a blast anyways! The camp really is ready to go - all you need is food & clothes! Have you ever gone "traditional" camping and smacked your head when you forgot something important? Lighter, lantern, coffee maker, pillows ... that sort of thing. Well, Jules & Tim have taken care of it all! You get the full experience of car camping ... without all the hassle of bringing everything in your car! Bonus: we recommend splashing in Callaghan's Falls on a hot day ... and grabbing Theo's pizza in Marmora for lunch.

Renewal I didn't know I needed!
I was in desperate need for a wee getaway to quiet my brain and reconnect with nature. The Camper's Den at the Tamarack Shack was just what I needed and more. Rustic (but with a comfy bed to sleep in) and the stars! I can't remember the last time I slept so well. I loved the walk through the property and spending some time with the cute farm animals. With the busyness of my life I hadn't been eating well. The breakfast of homemade granola and fresh eggs and fruit reminded me of how a perfect breakfast like that can serve the soul. It was the perfect mix of quiet time to read and write and getting out into nature. Thanks so much for a wonderful stay. Highly recommend!

Moon, Stars and Joy, Oh My!
Group trip
I cannot think of a more gracious and nurturing host! Jules and her family clearly love this land and you see evidence of this everywhere you go -- the walking trails (with beautiful beaded signage) that meander through forests and meadows, the ponds (so much wildlife!), the firepits (where I experienced my first women's moon circle ever, amazing!), the labyrinth (the answers WERE there!), and so much more. The campsite had everything we needed so anything extra we packed was left in the trunk. Thank you, Jules, for sharing your beautiful land (and positive energy) with my family and setting us up for so much needed quality time together and blissful solitude under the stars!

This was my first experience going through Hipcamp and this one did not disappoint at all! The amazing owners Jule’s and Tim made our experience so easy and seamless. We only needed food, our clothes and a few personal items which made our last minute getaway so much easier to “plan”. The trails were definitely a hit with so many options and being the perfect length for anyone to walk. (don’t forget the peacefulness of the labyrinth which is beautifully built) I could go on forever but my last note would be how welcoming and kind these amazing people are. I will 10000% be back in the near future. I will also be recommending it to family, friends and anyone that is on there spiritual path ❤️
