8 campsites and 2 original Mongolian Gers. The season for the camp sites is from June 1st to October 15 and the Gers are all 12 months. The Hipcamp is on the South Shore of East Lake Pets allowed, toilets on site, campfires permitted when burn ban is not in place. This being the 5th year, things are excellent and I certainly don't have any issues to deal with. If you aren't capable of practicing the 5 P's, then you need to book somewhere else. Proper Preperation Prevents Poor Performance. If you can't get here and have your camp set up by 8:00PM, showing respect to the other Hipcampers that are already set up and enjoying the PEACE AND QUIET, then you need to book somewhere else or don't come until the following morning. No driving down to the campsites/the lake after 8::00PM. Period. Communicate with me. If you leave Portland at 5:00 PM with the intention of spending the night in Heaven then you need to alter your plans. No more than 4 adults at each campsite. I am not to the point yet of saying no big dogs. Talk to me if you think your "big dog" might not fit in. It is a given they willl need to be on a tethered throughout your time in Heaven. Take them for walks along the lake, not having them run thru everyone elses camp sites. No Yappers, no barking dogs, no yippers, no pain in the butts. Why would you drive by 46 grocery stores and forget to bring ice? No loud music. I have changed quiet time to 9:00 PM. You need to listen to the chaos/stressful music I suggest you start a band or become a DJ. What I want folks to get out of being here, whether they are camping or staying in the Gers is just to “take a break”. Relax, appreciate, assess and just listen. I hope what you hear is the sound of life and of course all the Angels that make up this special piece of Heaven. The chipmunks, the squirrels, all the different birds, the eagles, the osprey, the fish jumping, the deer roaming, the timber martins running thru the trees, the snowshoe rabbits and the occasional black bear. Then there is the silence. The best part of “Heaven”. So, while you are here, take a deep breath, close your eyes at the appropriate moment and ask yourself, am I on the right path? Is what I am doing fulfilling me? Am I showing my family and friends how much I love them? Do I really need all that crap I got? Where do I go from here? My intention was for each one you to not just go camping, or to stay in a Mongolian Ger but to have an “Experience” that just might lead you to a more fulfilling and happier life.

Site 6 - Experience Heaven
We loved our two nights at the lake with our three kids and dog. David was incredibly kind and helpful, and offered us the use of an unbooked campsite as well as an extra night. We tried all the boats and read books from the lending library and had a lovely time all around. Highly recommended!

Above and beyond hospitality
Dave greeted us upon our arrival and gave quick clear instructions and information about where we should park our van and what fun things we could do while we stayed (including using any of the kayaks, canoes or paddle boards!). We had the most peaceful and enjoyable day and evening. The nature that surrounds this Hipcamp truly is soul filling. After enjoying the sunrise and some coffee we got ready to leave and unfortunately ran into some car trouble. Dave went above and beyond to ensure we were able to get what we needed from town to fix our van. His kindness, knowledge and generosity meant the world to us. We will 100% be coming back someday and give the highest of recommend. ations to anyone considering staying on this beautiful lake. Thank you so much Dave for all you did for us.

Lovely spot!
Such a lovely location - quiet, peaceful and beautiful! We stayed in the osprey during a mid-June cold snap which meant we woke to snow but stayed cozy (maybe even a little hot in the ger because that wood stove cooks!). The Ger is well equipped, washing station, drinking water, cooking area with fridge, microwave, coffee pot and a lot more. There was lots of fire wood available. The view is amazing! There was no one else around except David, Stormy (the sweetest dog ever), birds and deer. David is very friendly and helpful, comes by to say hello and make sure everything is ok but gives you your privacy. We didn't get to play on the lake because it was too cold but there were boats and paddle boards available and I'd love to come back to enjoy the lake when the weather is a little better. David changed the pricing on the Ger after we booked, lowering the nightly rate which I didn't know but he reimbursed us for the difference in cost which was so nice and unexpected, and honestly not necessary since we had booked at the higher rate. Really great experience all the way around. I will be back and would love to camp at one of the sites on the lake.

Experience Heaven!!!
This property lives up to its name – heaven! We stayed here two nights camping. Our tent site had a picnic table and fire ring, parking for one car, and a flat, level area that was big enough for two medium size tents. The porta potties were clean and smelled good. Toilet paper was soft. There was a huge mound of split firewood at no additional cost, and a donation box was available for cash or Venmo. The pieces were perfect, and there was even some small size kindling in case he didn’t have hatchet. A wheelbarrow to haul it. The lake was beautiful And peaceful. There is fisherman, but no loud boats.. The location was outstanding! Right in the middle of the national Monument with all all of the fun things to do in the area. Truly geological Wonderland . If you like, hiking, obsidian, volcanoes, it’s a great place to explore. David was very friendly and conversational. He came by and checked on us once. Enough to make sure we had what we needed for the weekend, but not so much where it was at all intrusive. He has a really cute dog. The other guests were very quiet, polite, and courteous. So if you’re looking for a place to camp, hang out, enjoy the national monument, this is the place for you. We really enjoyed staying here. And will definitely come back. Thank you David!!!!
