This unique campsite offers a charming blend of history and nature, with many guests praising the abundance of wildlife and enchanting forest paths. The hosts, particularly Tom and Margaret, are often highlighted for their warm hospitality and efforts to ensure a pleasant stay. However, the proximity to a busy train yard can disrupt the tranquility, especially for light sleepers. Additionally, some guests mentioned the need for better maintenance in certain areas, such as trash cans and toilets.
Positives: Unique beautiful property full of birds, deer and nice trails meandering through thick woods, many level spots to choose from, and kind & friendly hostess.
Challenges: Both trash cans and toilets were full, and nearby rail yard was noisy through the night.
Camping here was really nice and peaceful and a great place if you have a dog. He can roam free with no worries. Morning and evenings you hear rooster cackling and watch deer wander about! I would come back!
The sitting area was overgrown; there were random chairs, a broken hammock, and growth in the fire pit (unsafe).
Listened to a train idling all night plus 3 passing trains and 3 city sirens.
Couldn't even see the castle which was the major selling point.
Overall would not recommend.
