A short scenic 25 minute drive south of Hobart near in the small township of Margate en route to Southern Tassie and Bruny Island. The charming cabins are nestled amongst native bushland with fresh water next to each site. Cabin #1 (Bag End) is located 50m down the hill next to the creek - think Bag End from the Hobbit. It's such a peaceful place beside the small creek and powered. Cabin # 2 (Woodshed) is next to the Woodshed with easy parking. Note: Both Cabins sleep only 2, additional bedding will have to be provided by campers or make a request within 48hrs. A central location for day trips to Bruny Island, apple, cherry and blueberry orchards, or just enjoy it as peaceful and tranquil escape with the birds, trees and wallabies. There is firewood available for the combustion stoves.Located down the hill next to the creek, its a basic shack with a shared bathroom up the hill. It does have water, power and a compostable toilet. A private cabin amongst the trees, birds and wallabies. The cabin is insulated to keep the heat in from the combustion stove in a peaceful and safe setting. It has only a king single bed inside the cabin, so limited to sleep more than 2 if you don't have your own additional bedding. It's only 25 mins from Hobart, 12mins from Kingston and perfectly located as a base for day trips to Bruny Island, Cygnet and Huonville. Adrielle is onsite as manager to show you around upon arrival.

Overall, the place was quiet and well equipped. However the system for providing fresh water to the hut could be improved to ensure that water is available for the duration of the stay. The new stove is great!

Beautiful spot. Private. Lots of pademelons about. Fern trees and a small bubbling brook. I came for a self guided meditation retreat - it was perfect. All the basic amenities needed plus a beaut little fire and undercover outdoor bit. Hosts were so lovely, warm, and accommodating.

Perfect forest cabin
Such a beautiful spot nestled by the creek. Tranquil, serene and truly magical, we loved our stay in the cabin. And only a stones throw from all on offer just south of Hobart! Thank you for having us!!

Peak Pademelon!
What a wonderfully peaceful and calm place to stay! Your only neighbours will be the pademelons and wallabies, and the only noise you'll here will be the nearby creek. Bring your yoga mat, guitar or manuscript; this is a great place to stay for a week and do some creative work, or just to be alone with nature. 10/10 Highly Recommended.

I had a great stay at this site. The cabin was well equipped and the hosts were very welcoming. It is situated at a convenient distance from the Huon Valley and Hobart. I can't wait to stay here again.

The cabin was a perfect retreat for us! Minimalist and rustic, we so enjoyed being out in nature but feeling safe from wind and rain. The woodstove made it so cozy, and it was so nice sitting in front of the big window watching the birds and wallabies.
