Our homestead is located in the Champlain Valley, which is nestled between the Adirondack’s on the west and Green Mountains on the east. You may see our six macho male alpacas meandering their territory on our property, as well as our 16 chickens and one Guinea hen. This is a family owned and operated farm, with all the accompanying quirks and uniqueness.The Barn Loft Room is a second-story studio-apartment space, accessed by a 14-stair ascent. There is a queen sized bed, claw-foot shower with hot water, bathroom with a composting toilet and cold running water in the sink, as well as a medium counter-space in the main room, with another large sink with running cold water. There is an air conditioning unit, and a plug-in heater.

Super place! Très calme de jour comme de nuit (sauf le matin avec le cri des coqs). Très peu de bruit de voitures. L’endroit était propre et remplie d’histoires familiales. Nous avons adoré la compagnie des poules, canards, alpagas et chèvres. Si vous aimez la campagne cet endroit est l’emplacement idéal.

Highly recommend Loft/Farm stay

I thoroughly enjoyed Olivia and Guthrie's loft stay. They were super friendly and helpful, and the loft was clean, nicely appointed, and comfortable. The pastural view from the deck with Snake Mountain to the east and Adirondacks to the west was exceptional. As they described, it's a working farm, so expect the sound of chickens and other diurnal activity. But none of that was intrusive. The loft felt very private, and the hosts respected that privacy as well, though they are clear that they're available for help, or discussing their operation, etc. For the price, it's hard to beat this rental. I'd bring a folding chair to enjoy the deck, and be aware that, as described, the stairs are steep, so make sure your party is okay with that. Oh, and the composting toilet worked great, and was oder-free!

Nestled in the Champlain Valley, the Barn Loft Room at the Johnson homestead offered a charming retreat. The cozy studio-apartment featured vintage handmade furniture and plenty of seating. The clawfoot tub was perfect for a quick shower or relaxing baths, and the small kitchenette, complete with an electric kettle, kept us cozy with hot tea while watching the sunset. Greetings from alpacas on our arrival and a morning serenade from chickens added to the homestead's charm. It was an ideal base for exploring Middlebury and nearby Lake Champlain.
