As private as private gets but only 6 miles to Newport Vt. There is a creek and a one acre pond (20 feet deep). It is all mixed hard and softwoods. It has some magnificent old growth trees 100 foot tall. There is a good rd that my friend has used with his Lincoln. Most any vehicle (car or Pickup)can get to the site. It gets a little tricky if you are pulling a trailer. A small one is OK but a large one - not so much....... The rd goes 1/2 mile to the rear of the land. Moose, deer and other critters visit too. We live 1/2 mile away from where you enter the woodlot. Our house is on Brownington Pond (200+ acres) & campers can use this site for swimming, boating & fishing. For more info call 863220 5881 Excellent drinking water is available from the hose at our house.
Fires are allowed and we supply the firewood at no extra charge.
The access road is no joke, but once you’re in it’s amazing! So serene with the sound of the creek and tons of space to explore. The dog enjoyed what he considered “the track”, running around and around the pond as well as the countless trails. Only problem with that was we had a couple of ATVs and side-by-sides come ripping through the site thinking they were on an ATV trail (which would have been fine if it didn’t happen multiple times). We did enjoy getting out on the big pond! Tony had a double kayak out for us, so the dog could come too. Overall, very cute property and it was the perfect place for us to get away and reset over the holiday weekend! We’ll definitely be back!
Tony and Gigis campsite was amazing. It was so secluded. Gigi brought us right there and was very helpful and friendly. The roof absolutely saved us as it rained both nights of our trip. Newport is a gorgeous town to sightsee.
There is a lot to like about this site, foremost the pond (lake) and the proximity to Newport and all that Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom has to offer.
We were a bit confused by the site description. The way it reads, we assumed we would have some privacy. In fact, you’re either camping in Tony’s driveway or in his yard. If you want to camp next to the lake (yard site) like the cover photo suggests, it’s an extra $10 per night paid in cash. That said, the sunrises and sunsets made it worth it, as did the friendly hosts. Just be aware.
We only stayed one night but it was a perfect place to camp near Newport. Tony was really nice and showed us exactly how to get to the spot. He offered us the kayak by his house to use in the lake, but we unfortunately didn't have time the next morning. Recommend this for anyone camping and looking for a peaceful little spot to stay.
Tony is so kind and was a great host. My group was arriving late and he was super accommodating. The area is beautiful would definitely return!
