Nomadic camping
Best for self-contained campers. There are no toilets, showers, or potable water at this Hipcamp.
Our 60+ acre property is located 4 minutes from Fish Creek in the picturesque South Gippsland region, characterised by green rolling hills. Our property is a small working farm in dairy country. The centrepiece is a small private lake. The property forms a natural bowl, so we don't have runoff from other farms entering the lake and the water is very clean. We welcome campers to pitch a tent on the shore of the lake. The best spot is a small promontory with water on three sides and shade from the blackwood trees. Enjoy swimming, paddling, birdwatching or just hanging out soaking up the surrounds. You'll have the whole spot to yourselves. If you're exploring the area, we're just five minutes to the cafes, galleries and pub at Fish Creek; 15 minutes to the glorious beaches at Sandy Point, Waratah Bay and Walkerville; and 25 mins to Wilson’s Prom gate. There’s no toilet at the campsite, so you will need to be self-contained, and take all waste with you. We don't allow dogs because if there are livestock in nearby paddocks, dogs can freak them out. If fire danger level is not High or above, you're welcome to have a campfire in the firepit provided, but please BYO firewood. Note: This is a scenic spot but the access and camping are a bit rough. To drive in you'll need a SUV or bigger (a Nissan XTrail gets in, with a bit of care). Not suitable for caravans, RVs or long-wheelbase vans, though you'd probably be OK with a small camping trailer towed behind a good 4WD. (The trickiest part of accessing the site is getting from the road onto the track leading up to our gate. There is a roadside ditch, and long or low vehicles can bottom out when trying to cross it.) For necessities, Fish Creek has a general store and pharmacy, a post office, a hardware store, a famous pub - and good coffee at a few different venues! Our 60+ acre property is located in the picturesque South Gippsland region, characterised by green rolling hills and near great beaches and Wilson’s Prom. Nice spot, but be warned it currently looks nothing like the advertising photos. The lake is much more subdued behind groves / water plants and it needs a real clean of the walking area and lake. Also about 2-3 visible buildings / houses do ruin the immersion. I think the owners house looks over directly to the lake so it’s not exactly private, plan accordingly.

Great camping with water on 3 sides
Tent · With kids
We booked 2 nights and loved the location and outlook but unfortunately the weather wasn't on our side. Gale force winds on night 1 meant no fire and early to bed but night 2 started great and we had a nice fire going when we read the forecast of heavy rain due the next morning so we cut our loses and left around 9:30pm. I'd definitely like to stay again

The Lakeside campsite was fantastic! We spent two nights camping there while we rode the Great Southern Rail Trail and loved the serenity of the sire, swimming n the lake and relaxing after a long day with a fire overlooking the water. We will definitely be returning to this site when the opportunity arises.
