Nestled on a private 65-acre farm in the Alleghany Highlands of Virginia, Beaverdam Falls is located on VA SR-311 (Kanawha Trail) in the Sweet Springs Valley. Nestled in the old community of Earlehurst, between Covington & Roanoke, Beaverdam Falls are an historic series of waterfalls on private property. The Falls are at the headwaters of Dunlap Creek and are the terminus for the Sweet Springs. Available for guest stays & recreation, are the Upper Falls portion. Surrounded by the verdant George Washington National Forest, the Upper Falls, displays a constant waterfall of around 40-feet in height, & decorates the final mile stretch of the Sweet Springs, both on our property. Additional beautiful cascades pepper our tract of Beaverdam Falls as well. This private tract of unparalleled Virginia countryside will simply astonish your expectations. As the source of the Falls, Sweet Springs Creek, serves as a long, unique home for trout, calcified travertine rock, chalybeate water, and ancient beaver dams (as well as active ones!). Beaverdam Falls is a rare place for the lack of stone and the centuries of beavers who have left their trace in & on our creek—and swamp, the Stick Marsh, which has an active beaver dam. Be careful! They do bite!
Beaverdam Falls offers a serene and private camping experience surrounded by natural beauty, including stunning waterfalls and clear pools. Campers often highlight the thoughtful amenities provided, making it an easy and comfortable stay. While the site is well-equipped, visitors appreciate the balance of feeling connected to nature without sacrificing comfort. The host, Beau, is frequently praised for being friendly and attentive, enhancing the overall experience.
Stayed during the rainy snow season (I know we’re crazy lol) so the communal space didn’t have any hot water or propane for the stove. But we were SO taken care of. The manager Leah let us to another site to shower and cook and brought us another stove to cook with. Beautiful property and will definitely be coming back in the summer! Even in super cold winter weather we had a blast and loved every second!!
Cute hidden gem. The scenery was beautiful. I didn't think as much would be provided as far as accommodations. This is a great idea for those who want the camping experience without all the fuss of packing, setting up, and taking down equipment. Just about everything was provided. Just bring personal effects and some linens!
This was such a fun spot! They really supplied everything you might need, and the sight was super private. Our kids loved floating and exploring around the waterfall with the trout :) Highly recommend!
This property is absolutely magnificent! The lodging options are wonderful and the land is amazingly beautiful. Beau was a really great host. Very friendly and helpful! He really cares about the property. I can’t say enough about the falls and the beaver preserve. An absolute gem!!
This place is incredible. This was our second time coming and we plan to come every year if we can make it! It feels serene and quiet, but has all of the comfort and amenities that you could need. And I must say, the HEATER in the tent works so well. It was in the 30s and we were not cold at all in there. The property is amazing, the customer service is kind and helpful, and the views are stunning. Almost dont even want to give it this good of a review to keep it a secret, but I wont :) We even saw the Milky Way. Waking up to a beautiful sunrise over the mountains, making a coffee with their french press and walking over to the falls was just the best. Stay here and enjoy the heck out of it!!
Incredible space, stunning falls and creek, and just the right amount of spacing between sites for privacy. Wonderful spot and I couldn’t recommend it more.
