This is an 1800s log cabin in the middle of a wooded, remote and wild area in The Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. Ideal for the nature lover and adventure seeking individual looking for a truly rustic getaway. The cabin is very much the way it was in the 1800s other than the conveniences of plumbing, electricity, bathrooms and a kitchen. Nelson County, Virginia is a hiker’s, fisherman’s, and birdwatcher’s paradise. Nelson county also offers three river options for kayaking, canoeing or tubing with different rapid categories. While the cabin is remote, there are plenty of breweries and wineries located within 45 minutes. We are within 2 miles of CrabTree Falls ( with access to the AT) and the Blue Ridge Parkway. The area hosts many cross country running events and cyclists like to test their stamina coming up the mountain.Rustic 1880s 2 bedroom log cabin. The main bedroom has a queen size bed. The second bedroom has two double beds. The kitchen was recently renovated but retains the charm of the cabin. The floors are crooked and the finishes mostly hand made. While it has electric baseboard, the ideal way to heat the cabin is with the wood burning stove in the kitchen and the pellet stove in the dinning room. There is an outside fire pit and a picnic table. The living room also has a wonderful fireplace. We are down a dirt road and 45 minutes from supermarkets. Due to the location of the cabin, it’s inevitable that spiders, mice and tiny ring snakes etc can enter the cabin. We have monthly pest control to minimize the nuisance. Because we are located at 3,000 feet of elevation, we sometimes get powerful storms. We can lose power. I have experienced an overnight power outage. I took the opportunity to read with the light of a lantern.
