We offer a Holistic experience of connection with true Nature and wish that our guests are sensitive to the beautiful energy that surround our property. We have 26 acres of beautiful woods and wetlands in the foothills of the North Cascades. The Samish River runs through the property, narrowing into a deeper channel from the broad protected marshes to the north which provide excellent bird-watching vistas. We are located 30 min Southeast of Bellingham and one hour away from the fantastic Mt Baker ski area. Our yurt is new, with no power but with good cell reception. We have a fully set up kitchen with all necessary utensils and dishes, comfortable bed with linen, woodstove and gas stove. Remember to bring a cooler! Our newly built bathroom has hot water, shower, composting toilet and electricity where you can charge your devices No petsThe 20 foot yurt is located on our beautiful, 26 acre property and developing farm, that we are pleased to share with like-minded people. We are in the beautiful South Fork River Valley, on the banks of the Samish, which is a salmon spawning river and attracts abundant bird life. We are a short walk from a stretch of the Pacific Northwest Trail, gently ascending logging roads on the western slopes of Lyman Hill. More than 12 acres of the property are dedicated as a preserve to foster the good health of the waters and wilderness we make our home in. We hope guests will appreciate the invitation to bask in the richness of this wetland terrain and the diversity of plant and animal life that spring from it and are drawn to it. Around the main house, we are developing orchards and gardens, using Organic and Biodynamic methodologies. We have chickens and goats and a Livestock Guardian Dog to protect them. This is not for everyone, as there is no power to the yurt, our beautiful wooden bathroom has a composting toilet and we do not allow any pets, as our large dog needs to be able to roam the property to do his job of keeping coyotes and other predators at bay. The quiet, south end of Lake Whatcom, is a 10 minute drive away, on the way to lovely Bellingham and the coast 30 minutes to the West, and the splendors of Mount Baker are an hour's drive to the East. Mount Vernon, with its flower farms, the Skagit River and excellent natural foods co-op are 30 minutes to the South.

Ericks property was beautiful and peaceful. We cooked three great meals in the yurt and enjoyed the slow transition to night time by gas lantern. Erick was a great host and provided delicious eggs from his hens.

Erick’s yurt is beautiful! Inside it’s so cosy and well laid out. The bed is really comfortable and warm, and the little kitchen area had everything we needed. The surroundings were peaceful and stunning, Erick has clearly put a lot of care into creating and maintaining the grounds. The washroom has a lovely shower with hot water, ideal for chillier seasons. Toiletries and a hairdryer make this stay feel that bit more luxurious! The location was aLeo ideal for visiting both Bellingham and Mt Baker.

The Perfect Glamping Getaway!
The Perfect Getaway! Do not hesitate to book this lovely yurt glamping experience! My partner and I absolutely loved our stay. We were originally thinking of camping for the long Labor Day weekend- but then didn't want to deal with all of the equipment that we would have had to borrow from friends. So I got the idea to clamp, and we're sooo glad we did! I found Erick's place on hipcamp, and let me tell you, it was the perfect blend of rustic charm, with all the essentials that we needed, as a base for all of our hiking experiences in the area. The yurt is so charming, clean, and well equipped with everything we needed for a cozy weekend. It's so well maintained and all of the little touches, like the lanterns at night create such a relaxing atmosphere. Although there is no electricity, we really did not need it. We truly got to unplug, but because there is a gas stove, and lanterns... we always felt like we had all of our needs met. The bathroom area was so well-maintained, as well. Extremely clean, nice warm shower, and the composting toilet is very easy to get used to. The land is so nourishing... it's beautiful to roam around on the property, say hi to the sheep and chickens, and Merlin the dog, and take in the sounds of nature. However, above and beyond all of the amenities, the hospitality was second-to-none. Elizabeth, one of the property owners, was amazingly kind, and truly generous with her time, care and conversation. We felt so welcomed.

Wonderful Escape from the City
Nestled amidst rolling hills and family farms, our recent glamping trip to The Heron’s Nest botanical farm was nothing short of idyllic. My partner and I loved staying in their charming yurt equipped with all the comforts of home. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by owner and farmer Erick who gave us a tour. The yurt boasts a cozy bed, wood stove (with complimentary firewood), a gas stove top, hot and cold running water, and everything we needed to make meals for four days including coffee and organic dish soap. We bought eggs from the farm and they were great! You’ll need to bring a large cooler with ice and your own food. Also, take note that the farm encourages guests to use organic toiletries to minimize chemicals on the farm. We also used our headlamps a lot for cooking and walking to the restroom as the yurt is dark at night (and great for stargazing). Erick constructed the bathroom from aromatic cedar and it’s Immaculately clean. The shower has hot water, complimentary towels, soap, shampoo, conditioner, and complete privacy, making our daily routines feel indulgent yet grounded in nature. The farm’s location is perfect- North Cascades National Park is an hour away and we enjoyed visiting Lake Diablo. We also explored Bellingham, ate oysters on Chuckanut Drive, and drove to the Mount Baker ski area. Beyond the amenities, the true charm of our stay lay in the hospitality of Erick, Sarah, and their family. Thank you for our wonderful getaway and memories!

We had such a great time in Erick and Sarah’s property! The yurt and bathroom are newly constructed, everything was clean and well-kept with thoughtful touches everywhere. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything you’d need to cook on the small stove or outside on the fireplace grill, then eat/drink out of beautiful ceramic mugs and plates. The bathroom stays toasty with a propane heater and the custom concrete shower surrounded by cedar walls was a lovely experience. Outside of the yurt, the huge firs, maples and cottonwood trees are FULL of twittering birds and, at night, frogs. There’s so much to see and watch around the wetlands property, we didn’t have time to explore as much as we wanted but would love to come back and see even more! The hosts were super helpful and welcoming and great to chat with, they’re clearly very proud of the space they’ve set up for guests and happy to share. We’d absolutely stay again next time we’re in the area.
