Our Harpers Ferry Campground offers a natural setting with comfortable accommodations by the Potomac River. We have options for tent camping, RV sites, glamping, and cabins to cater to different camper preferences. Experience the only waterfront camping in Harpers Ferry! River Riders Campground offers a tent site to fit every need. Choose from riverfront sites, trailside and hike-in island sites, cliff tops, as well as deluxe tent sites that have electricity and water. There is a handicap-accessible bathhouse with 3 showers as well as a portable restroom trailer with running water. The campground is in a beautiful and unique location. Because of that it is a mixed-use site. The last zip-line in the Harpers Ferry Zipline Canopy Tour passes over some of the Cabin/RV/Deluxe Tent sites. The boat launch is used by River Riders to drop off some of our guests. A 1.5-mile walking and biking trail leads directly to Harpers Ferry from the campground to the town of Harpers Ferry. Canoes, kayaks, and paddleboards are available on-site. NOTICE:There is an active railroad that runs adjacent to the campground and a one way tunnel nearby. The train runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, although the frequency varies and you may hear honking from the tunnel. Light sleepers should bring earplugs. Check-in is at 4 pm at our main office 408 Alstadts Hill Rd, Harpers Ferry, and check-out is at 11 am.Beautiful River Front Campsites are available on a deep water section of the Potomac River near downtown Harpers Ferry in Jefferson County. A four mile section of deep water runs from our campground to above the Dargan Bend Boat Ramp in Maryland. Pontoon boats, fishing boats, water skiing, wake boarding, and jet skis are welcome. Pitch your tent and tie your boat up out front. The Campground is only one hour from the Washington, DC and Baltimore Metro Regions. Our nearby bathhouse has private baths with toilets, sinks, and showers ! The bath house does have handicap accessibility. Please be aware that in the event of flooding or potential flooding, Harpers Ferry Campground may cancel reservations with refund as only liability. These sites do not to have car parking on them; parking is adjacent to the site! NOTICE:There is an active train track adjacent to the campground and a one way tunnel where cars sometimes honk their horns. I knew about the train. I have silicone ear plugs. I thought I would be ok but they didn't block the train noise at all. To put it into perspective I had my phone on full volume in front of my face and couldn't hear when the train passed. The ground shakes and the train light very bright. The ground was so rocky. Could only put half my tent pegs in. The out door sink at the bath house was nice. Usually have to do dishes in a bin. The fire pit was good. The portable washroom were ok and warm. Which was nice for fall camping. This place is best to enjoy the activities or you are new to camping. Not for the season camper.

Spectacular and loud.
Tent
I can't say I got to experience all of the camp's amenities because it was end of season and not much was happening. The area is spectacular, just a few minutes walk up the road was a series of rapids where they shot several scenes from Gods and Generals. It's well laid out. But gotta warn you, a major amount of trains go right past the camp, seemingly right on top of you. It's noisy.
