Welcome to Powder Keg Farms, where our roots—and values—run deep.
We are farmers who care deeply about how food is grown, not only so it nourishes our bodies, but also so it nourishes the earth. Since our farm’s inception, our focus has steadfastly been producing wholesome foods raised naturally and sustainably, believing they are nutritionally superior and higher quality.
Our fruits, vegetables, poultry and eggs are intentionally hand-tended and gathered using natural, free-range practices and the continuum of plant and animal life-cycle management. Our products reflect our passion for quality, integrity and high standards and our respect for the entire farm-to-table process.
Located high atop a picturesque ridge just west of the Shenandoah Valley on the site of an original 1700s homestead, the farm’s open fields and gentle, southeast facing slope provide the ideal location for fertile raised beds and plenty of wandering room for the chickens. Over the years, we’ve added high tunnels and workspaces and expanded to serve new communities, but through it all, our values never change.

We loved camping on Ginny and Brian’s land! They are wonderful hosts and I would highly recommend making your way up to check out their farm and buy some ins season produce. Maybe you will be granted some wisdom about growing food and life along the way!
