This ecologically diverse property in the "Prairie Pothole" region of Wisconsin offers hiking trails around 10+ acres of meadow and wooded habitat with lots of wildlife to enjoy (sandhill cranes, deer, pheasants, turkeys, songbirds and more). Enjoy a beautiful 360-degree view of rolling hills and vibrant sunrises and sunsets right from the fire ring. You'll see hundreds of planted trees around the property -- one sign of our efforts to increase wildlife habitat and the diversity of tree species present. The 300 ft gravel driveway makes access easy for cars, trucks, campers, bikes and RVs. Located just off of Interstate 94 between the Twin Cities and Eau Claire, WI, this camping site will surely please all campers who want a sense of wilderness with convenient city access. Pine Lake Rec Area is only 2.5 miles away (bring your boat or canoe/kayaks). There are three golf courses located within 11 miles of the campsite -- two 9-hole courses and one 18-hole course. The location is perfect for travelers looking for a cheap and simple place to stay just off Interstate 94 and Hwy 63. Campfire wood is provided. 🪵🔥The well-maintained hilltop site overlooks a diverse Wisconsin landscape full of wildlife and an old farmstead — only minutes from Pine Lake in St. Croix County, Wisconsin. Pitch a tent in the designated site area, utilize the picnic table and enjoy a campfire in the fire ring. There is a cooler with complimentary water bottles. Drive into Baldwin in minutes to get groceries or highly-rated restaurants (I suggest Rusty's 10 miles to the north on hwy 63). There are a couple of lakes in the area and the St. Croix River. I enjoy trout fishing in the Willow, Kinnikinnic and Rush Rivers. Happy to help with additional questions. I've lived in the area most of my life, so I can be a good local resource. Phone service is great -- we get good internet speeds using our hotspots.

Private Hilltop Campsite

This is my 4th time at Justin’s property. It’s our go to spot for the last few months. It’s great! Justin is very responsive and we couldn’t recommend it enough.

This is the perfect campsite! Nice open space that was freshly cut. Trees, walking trails, fire pit, picnic table, and privacy. This is my second time at Justin’s site and he continues to be great at communication and maintaining a wonderful space.

Overall, the site itself was pretty. Unfortunately it was in horrible shape and not at all what was advertised. The site hadn’t been mowed in quite some time, therefore making the trails on the property not usable. The grass in the front part where you camp was very long. On top of that, the trash can on site hadn’t been emptied in quite some time. Even though we didn’t need the water in the cooler, the bottles that were in there had the labels coming off and were old. We actually thought something may have happened to the owner of the site it was in such rough shape. Very disappointed.

Traveling with trailer and dog

Private Hilltop Campsite

This campsite was as private and well kept as we hoped . There are plenty of possibilities to pick a tent side on a nice grassy surface or park a travel trailer. Since the campsite itself is on a hill top, we were ok even with previous rain. It was a joy to walk the trail with all the flowers. If you are there with your dog, watch out for the burrs. They seem to be mostly located behind the campsite towards the street, not an area where I wanted my dog off leash anyway. I did not see any further down the trail. However, if your dog is off leash, I would keep an eye on some old agriculture equipment at the beginning of the trail. It is overgrown, not an eye sore at all, but I was concerned about rusty sharp edges in combination with my curious dog. We will be back, it was very relaxing and quiet. Oh, the cows you hear in the distance…if you are looking for beef, they have a farm store by appointment.

Private Hilltop Campsite

We had a fabulous time at Justin’s hilltop campsite! We loved having a nice secluded area all to ourselves, especially our dogs who reveled in the freedom of having free range over an open space. Justin himself was very kind to ensure the campsite and trails were mowed on our behalf. We fully plan on coming back!
