McCoy's River Retreat
Nice but noisy
It was right on the river so that was nice. Saw lots of birds. But that river is adjacent to an interstate. While you can’t see the interstate, you hear it so if you want solitude and quiet, this will not be the place. It worked fine for my 1 night stop.

Conveniently located get-away
What a gem!! This site is far away from other sites or immediate traffic (it’s on a gravel road) but is close to Stevens Point if you need anything from civilization. If you’re passing through Stevens Point or are looking to do a trial run on camping gear without getting that far away, this place is great! As one reviewer pointed out, you can hear distant highway traffic, but the biggest noise makers are birds and speedboats. The site was clean, well-maintained, with plenty of space, lots of dry firewood, and a picnic table. The trees are well spaced for hammocks and the bugs weren’t an issue except at dusk. Nothing a delightful little campfire didn’t make tolerable. If you want water access, there is a little scramble. It could be made easier with a rope ladder, but if you need a ramp into the water, you’ll have to go to a public boat landing. We launched kayaks without issue. The whole place is dreamy and we look forward to returning next year on our way to the UP.

McCoy's River Retreat
Booked 4 nights, didn't stay one
It should be cheaper. I was mislead by photos on how close the river was to the site, it's a sandy cliff climb about 20' straight down. The site itself was easy to get to once the owners okayed us as guests, the actual coordinates came up. However there was zero communication when questions were asked. This site is waaaaay to expensive for what is offered. It fit one tent, and had a picnic table you can move, which was nice. The hwy was so loud, and it's right by the road so ATVs and UTVs were blowing up dust from the dirt road all day. There was wood supplied, but the bathroom was not walking distance if you gotta go. On top of all that the mosquitos and horse flies were so bad no amount of spray helped. We did not stay one night. Booked 4.

Great campsite
Positive experience. Smaller site than I imagined but the location was very nice. Overall it is quite a beautiful spot.

McCoy's River Retreat
Great place to throw down a tent by a river. Not really anything special to do. EXTREMELY mosquito-y when we were there first week of July. No amount of spray saved us. The sky at night was lovely but the intensity and amount you can hear fairly distant highways - was quite surprised how loud it was. All in all an ok midway to final destination landing spot

McCoy's River Retreat
Great private camping spot!!
This campsite was perfect, right on the river, secluded, and quiet. Spot was easy to find and firewood was provided! Mark was responsive when I messaged him and even let us check in early so we could get our tent and things set up before hiking. We were able to drive right up to the site and we fit an 8 person tent (with 2 people) on the property. Definitely recommend this spot to camp for a few nights!!
