Rustic campground with outhouses for toilets. Out house has motion sensor lights at night. Community hand pump for water, no electricity. Very quiet campground with a loop of approximately 50 sites. Next to the lake with wooden steps leading down the cliff to the waters edge. Water is fresh and refreshing . Somewhat chilly, but nice. Wear some water shoes until you get past the rocky bottom. Loons call out at night. If you are quiet, and there are quiet neighboring campers, the dear walk through the campsites. Campground sits next to the Interlochen art camp with a fence on the property line. We were treated to a bugle playing Taps at sunset, and Reveille in the morning.

Avoid, at all cost, the RV-accessible North Campground on Duck Lake -- it's more like an enormous parking lot at the State Fair -- and pitch your tent instead at the Green Lake Rustic Campground. The 600 loop is quiet, private, with decent views of a loon-enchanted lake. You'll want to score sites 609, 604, 605, 602 for maximum size and lake views. We stayed in 609, -- truly one of the largest sites we've ever had -- with pretty sunsets from the west-facing view across Green Lake. A set of wooden steps leads from the campground to the edge of the water. In spring and summer, fresh mint grows along the shore, so you'll have something to garnish your beverage. The park isn't exactly a scenic All-Star, but it's a sweet little spot.
