Echoed by the roaring Maumee River, Mary Jane Thurston State Park Campground is geared toward the angling-savvy outdoorsman/woman, populated by endemic populations of pike and other Ohio native fish―just make sure you can present your laminated Ohio fishing license. For those who aren’t as seasoned with a rod-and-reel, the area’s well-marked trails are dotted with scenic outlooks of the fast-flowing Maumee River. And, with a wide range of camping options, you and your backpacking posse will be well cared for.

Very basic campground. Paid $21 for one night tent pitch, it is $24 for electric. Pricey considering there are just two water spouts and three semi clean porti-pottys. The hosts are very sweet and it was quite at night. But it is on a busy road with truck noise during the day. You cannot swim in the river and there are no boat rentals. But there is a cute little town walking distance away. All in all a good spot to stop for one night if you need a place to rest.
