What a great little campgrounds on the Little Pee Dee River! Its a State Park with a family atmosphere. I felt welcomed and safe, and the hosts and also Ranger Emily were all so great.
I went so that I could get my new skoolie out for a spin. I figured a place where I knew no one would be perfect, quiet. It was quiet. It was perfect. But I left knowing everyone camping around me!
And I'm gonna put this out there. Its not something I talk about, but in today's world with more POC traveling, walking into the unknown is frightening, maybe even dangerous. I never felt an ounce of fear or discomfort there, in spite of the fact that there was no one there who looked like me. I didn't even notice til I got back home.
I can't wait to go back.
We loved our stay at Little Pee Dee! There is usually a lake, but at the time at that we were there, they had drained it for repair work on the local dam. It's still a beautiful view.
There are 50 campsites, about half have electricity and all have water. There is a dump station and a dumpster located at the entrance to the campground. The roads around the camp sites itself are a little rough, but if you're going slow you hardly notice.
Cell service for Verizon was great and consistent at about 2-3 bars for 4G LTE. AT&T cell service got 1-2 bars for 4G. Unfortunately, T-Mobile was non-existent.
We'd definitely come back!
