Description

What better way to get after a beautiful day than a gorgeous sunrise hike on the San Marcos River Trail? At sites 1-19, you’ll be ready to go after a goodnight’s sleep thanks to an array of amenities at this RV-exclusive area which include water and electricity hookups, restroom and shower facilities, picnic tables and fire rings. Over the river and through the woods you’ll find sites 20-37, for the more rugged, tent-campers. These sites have nearby restrooms, fire rings, picnic tables and are located right next to the playground!

  • Best for RVs: One site offers full hookups while 17 sites offer electricity.
  • Best for comfort: One cabin sleeps six inside (with AC, a fridge, and a microwave, but no restroom) and has room for one tent outside.
  • Best for large groups: A spacious group site surrounded by the San Marcos River on three sides has space for up to 100.

Great park to see handy work of the CCC, aside from being a lush and tropical adventure. We were there in the spring, when it was rainy and overcast. The park was green and lively, even the water was covered in either tiny water plants or algae? it was beautiful, whatever it was. Several hiking trails, fishing and camping ( of course). Look out for dinosaurs.... or snakes!

If you go here be sure to check out the Palmetto Interpretive Trail. It's a very short trail but you feel like you're walking through the time of the dinosaurs.
