Description

At the feet of the Wind River Range of the Rocky Mountains, the Fremont Lake Campground offers up a pretty majestic spot to unroll your sleeping bag after a long day. Whether you spent it hiking, fishing, bouldering, or boating, you’ll rest easy among the twinkling glacial lakes and rugged granite crags of western Wyoming. The sites are all on a hillside covered in aspen, Douglas fir, and juniper trees, and they’re well-spaced so you’ll have tons of privacy—though most of the sites do not have lake views, you’re never too far from the water. It’s full of rainbow trout and salmon, sailboats and kayaks, and casual swimmers just taking in the sun (be wary of those hot spells, though, ‘cause the evening temps drop fast up at 7400 feet). On your way out, stop in Pinedale at the Museum of the Mountain Man to see some bizarro artifacts from the Rocky Mountain fur trade era!
