Nestled right up against the escarpment this high-end, off-grid 40 acre property effectively offers your own private slice of Macquarie Pass National Park - amazing views, giant cedar trees, fern forests, cascading waterfalls and palms surround. It feels remote but it's only 90 min from Sydney, 30 min to Kiama and just 15 min to the shops. The property also offers the only hiking path up to the top of the escarpment for some truly amazing views. As of September 2024, all the trails on the property have been massively upgraded and are passable with a 2WD car. If you're towing or it's wet we still recommend AWD or 4WD vehicles. We've just (mid December) added a spa half way up the driveway. It can be booked through the deluxe extra. We're not particularly price sensitive - until all those rate rises - but we are extremely value sensitive so we set out to make your stay extremely good value for your hard earned money. The land itself does most of the heavy lifting but also personal service and of course there's Lana to fall in love with.

Far enough away to unwind and relax, close enough to get a caffeine fix if needed! Coming into summer camp fires are subject to weather conditions and fire warnings. Campers must be self-contained. Off grid campers, 4wd vehicles with pop ups or tents on ground and RVs can be accommodated. We have a leave only footprints philosophy. All rubbish and waste (human, animal & general) must be taken off property. Extremely well behaved dogs are welcome. Our birds are free range so dogs need to be feathered friend friendly. We do not accommodate large groups as our focus is peace, relaxation and family friendly. The property is home to an abundance of wildlife including kangaroos, wallabies, native birds and reptiles. There are also a lot of wombats so stay on the track and look for burrows. There are many activities to enjoy including kayaking, fishing, swimming, bush walking, bird watching and 15kms of mountain bike trails. We are pet friendly, please remember to have your pets protected against ticks. You will need to be self-contained with own camping toilet, shower and water. Please DO NOT dig toilet hole, even though you leave it covered, it doesn't take long for the foxes to dig it up and leave a real mess!! Campfires permitted in designated areas. Buxton Getaway

Located just one hour from Sydney, our property features 19 acres of pure serenity with two dams and one large enough to kayak on (kayaks supplied). The back of the property is perfect for camping and suitable for a small to medium caravan/camper. The larger dam has a picnic area and kayaks available to paddle on. Adjoining our property is Nattai National Park with a lovely 20 minute walk down to Little River. The Aqua Pool Trail in the National Park is just gorgeous. If you wish to try and catch some yabbies from the dams the only allowable and fun way is by a long stick and sausage. Hooks, fishing lines and traps are not allowed as we have people, dogs and horses swimming in the dams. We welcome self-contained campers who bring their shower/toilet set up. We do have two drop pit toilets available and each campsite has a pit fire provided. We are getting low on firewood so you will need to bring some along with you. There is access to drinking water. Our property is 2WD accessible and can accommodate small caravans and camper trailers. Not far from Buxton is Thirlmere where the Steam Train Museum is and train rides are available on the weekends, a great activity for the kids. Thirlmere Lakes National Park is perfect for a relaxing picnic, walk, birdwatching, and glimpse into locomotive history. Mittagong and Bowral have great wineries with restaurant/bistro. Pets are welcome. There's a range of different bushwalking trails in the region, including Starlights trail, a scenic bushwalk suited to experienced hikers, which forms part the Greater Blue Mountains trail network between Mittagong and Katoomba.

At Kookaburra, we ensure all our guests enjoy privacy and space. However, do bear in mind you're in a shared space and you might see other groups around. We operate on a self-sufficient model, so please remember to dispose of your rubbish responsibly and, of course, leave no trace in nature. Our farm family includes curious and friendly cows, free-roaming chickens and a delightful pig – they might even come say hello when you first pull in! Come join us at Kookaburra for a weekend getaway or an overnight stop. You're always welcome to drive in, pass the house and park in the back paddock. We're generally around if you need anything, but a simple wave is enough! Please note that if you plan to arrive after dark, do let us know in advance so we can provide any necessary arrangements. Overview

About a 2-hour drive from Sydney on the NSW coast, Kiama has long attracted surfers and holidaymakers in search of family fun. Even those who like to stay on dry land will find plenty to do, from checking out the massive Kiama Blowhole to conquering the water slides at the seasonal Jamberoo Action Park. A few caravan parks right in town offer easy access to Kendalls Beach and Easts Beach, with more options with hookups, dump stations, and scenic sites to be found in nearby Gerringong. For something quieter, head inland toward Budderoo National Park—while camping in the park is prohibited, you'll find a fair few private farms nearby that double as private campgrounds. Most welcome a couple of parties at a time, making for a private, intimate alternative to the larger holiday parks in Kiamas town centre.
