    This property is a Pristine Riverfront property in Colo Valley. It is a tidal river with sandy shallow sandbars and 10ft deep swimming holes. There is an abundance of native animals here including kangaroos, lyre birds, lace monitors, platypus and more! Access is via a short dirt driveway to the riverfront camping area. The access is 2wd unless there has been significant rain it becomes 4wd access.We can accommodate both small and large groups with sites just steps away from the river. We have 2 water entrances, one is a large grassed area with shallow water which is great for kids & families. The other entrance is a natural sandy entry with a deeper swimming area suitable for adults. We also have a beautiful lagoon area where I can arrange additional campers. We have built some new flushing toilets (3) with a hot water shower.We are very accommodating of your pets. We welcome dogs and can host horses in one of the paddocks. Please ensure you contact the host prior to your stay if you are bringing any animals. We have canoes & floats which you can hire to paddle up the river. Additional activities here include fishing, swimming, bushwalking, canoeing & birdwatching. We are also only a 5 minute drive to Colo Riverside Cafe.We also have 2 beautiful brand new glamping tents that you can hire. Please see our extras.I look forward to meeting you soon!

With the secluded bush surroundings and the quiet, it's hard to believe you're only an hour away from Sydney. You might even see a Koala There is strictly no accomodation in the Cabin. The camp features a camping toilet and bathing facilities, gas bbq, a kitchen washing area, a recreation space and dining table when the weather is bad. All you need to do is roll out your swag. Campers are encouraged to take their rubbish with them. There is access to power for campervans/caravans. Warm your toes at the outdoor fireplace whilst you chat with friends. (Please bring own firewood). You will be a 10 minute drive from the beautiful Dharawal National Park which has wonderful swimming holes and bush walks. The site is 15 minutes drive from Campbelltown, which offers all amenities of a large metropolitan city.

Set in a semi rural location, close to shops, medical centre(s) and other services. Quiet location, overlooking bush canopy. Suit couples travelling that need a safe, quiet overnight stay on route to their next destination. Two Woolworths, two Aldi’s and local shops within 5-10 minutes drive at Galston, Glenorie and Dural Round Corner. Access to water and power can be arranged at a small charge but must have and use own toilet. Parking can be on driveway at front or if prefer, in dry weather, on flat, former tennis court at the rear of the property, overlooking the bush.

    This is our largest site - it can easily accommodate double the cars and tents pictured. We're not precious about the ferns - they grow back very quickly. You get at least 400 sqm completely to yourself - no sharing with others.

    Wonderful host, lots of personal touches that made it a wonderful stay. Would highly recommend to anyone. Different options for nice private camp spots and a great little walk route round the property. Definitely recommend the pizza and the sourdough!!! And of course Lana, she's a real gem 💎 Ian was also super knowledgeable of off grid living and happy to share.

    Michaela, Hogan and Teddy (furbaby) together with their two majestic horses, Cash and Oggy, greeted us with warm welcome. They were very friendly and accommodating which made our weekend even more wonderful. Michaela was very friendly and compassionate. I enjoyed having a healthy convo with her. Also, she was so kind to have no restriction on our check out time. Which made our last day even more comfortable because we do not need to rush off and pack everything. We took our time which was very relaxing tbh. The Aldi shop was just less than 10-minute drive away..easy access to get a pack of ice or foodies. Overall, this experience at Michaela was really amazing. Would recommend it and would definitely come back

    This was our second time coming to shady acres and will be back again. The campsite is nice and grassy with a firepit to use. The toilets and shower are modern and in good condition. The two campsites are a fair distance away so you have your own swimming area and it feels like you have the place to yourselves. The river is crystal clear and nice and shallow for kids to play around. Can recommend.

    Had a great weekend at Dharawal. Saw some Kookaburras and Possum's right near camp. The cabin was a nice luxury with power and a great drop toilet so close to camp. Would definitely recommend. There was some noise coming from nearby roads but it was few and far between.

    My friends and I had a fantastic stay with Ian at Mellows Ridge. We booked very last minute and Ian was incredibly accommodating, right away getting in contact with directions. Our group was a little underprepared for the site we booked, and Ian was incredibly helpful and ended up moving us to a site that was more suitable for us. We enjoyed homemade pizza and a dip in the spa, and he truly went out of his way to make us feel welcome and comfortable at Mellows Ridge. We would love to come back and would definitely recommend staying here.

    Stayed at Ian and Claire’s property in Calderwood for nearly a week in late Feb 2025. I was looking at airbnb accomodations that were really expensive, as I needed a pet friendly and affordable stay. As a first time user of HipCamp, I saw this property and was drawn to its close proximity to Wollongong, being pet friendly, and having access to potable water, power and wifi. I moved here to commence studies in medicine and was really struggling to find a rental for 5 weeks prior to coming to this property. Ian and Claire, thanks for helping me with the stay, being available, affordable and dog friendly- I stayed in a Roof top tent near the off grid house. Highlights for me; - amazing location; the sounds of the rainforest, fresh air, great walking trails for the dogs -friendly and helpful hospitality- Ian went out of his way to make sure I had what I needed - Lana! They have a beautiful dog that looks like a groodle (x poodle /GSP)- and it’s one of the most chilled dogs I’ve met- I was worried mine wouldn’t get alone but Lana gets along with everyone and was definitely a highlight. Great for kids, infants and other dog owners- or those wanting some dog therapy. There were very few mosquitoes and that was pleasantly surprising. Loved reconnecting with camping, camp fire and down time, while still having wifi and clean water access. A call out to rock climbers, birdwatchers, dog lovers, and nature lovers- it’s a great spot to unwind and reccomend with nature

    Nestled right up against the escarpment at an elevation of 450m, this high-end, off-grid 40 acre property effectively offers your own private slice of Macquarie Pass National Park - amazing views, giant cedar trees, fern forests, cascading waterfalls and palms surround. It feels remote but it's only 90 min from Sydney, 30 min to Kiama and just 15 min to the shops. The property also offers the only hiking path up to the top of the escarpment for some truly amazing views. As of September 2024, all the trails on the property have been massively upgraded and are passable with a 2WD car. If you're towing or it's wet we still recommend AWD or 4WD vehicles. We've just (mid December) added a spa half way up the driveway. It can be booked through the extras. We're not particularly price sensitive - until all those rate rises - but we are extremely value sensitive so we set out to make your stay extremely good value for your hard earned money. The land itself does most of the heavy lifting but also personal service and of course there's Lana to fall in love with. Note, Mellows Rd is 2.6km long and rises 400m - in parts the road is a 15 degree grade. It's all paved but narrow so if you are towing a large heavy load, it's going to strain your car.

The Scheyville National park is 3km away and is known for their amazing riding trails, picknick spots and history. There is so much more to explore here in the Hawkesbury.
