2 nights at Altamira Along Bakers Creek

Great place to camp. Will definitely be one for us to return to. For the kids: lots of room to run around and they loved all the animals running around and able to pat. The weather was a bit rainy when we were there but the hot spa still aloud us to get in the water. Adult: great beer garnden and pool table over looking the kids toy room that allows you to relax and unwind while the kids play and still able to see them. The owners are lovely and made the stay very enjoyable. Recommend this camp site.

Peaceful spot alongside the river, we enjoyed our stay and would be happy to visit again. Pros: welcoming host, private and peaceful campsite, easy river access for a SUP or fishing or a rinse, safe from any major hazards for our toddler. Cons: toilet far away from site, lots of mosquitos early morning and evening, river is very dark so was a bit off putting to swim in but still refreshing, tent site on a bit of an incline which would be ideal to flatten further.

Meredith is a wonderful host. She is accomodating, hospitable and a beautiful person all round. Our stay was the break we needed for the weekend. Private spot with gorgeous views of mountains, farm life, lush green fields and the night sky that keeps you in awe. This spot is a perfect stay with close proximity to mountains tracks, coastal beaches, lakes and much more. We enjoyed camping here that it is now marked as one of our favourite places to stay. Highly recommend staying here if you’re passing by or need a nice peaceful scenic place to unwind and relax.

The property oozes with old world charm and the scenery is gorgeous. Meredith was super hospitable and was so generous with sharing her family’s land. Our kids made core memories here! They loved it. Don’t stress too much about which spot you pick; they are all lovely. (Just double check on the toilet/shower situation if that’s important to you, as this is a work in progress.)

We had such a wonderful time. Meredith really looked after us (even providing us with marshmallows for the fire!). Such a beautiful spot on top of a hill with beautiful 360 views of the countryside. Cows surround the property (they’re fenced out so no worries about them in the night) but are such a beautiful sight to wake up to. The common room was a great place to hang out in the evening when other campers had gone to bed - we loved playing board games in here! About 15 minutes to the shops and 20 minutes to the beach this is a great spot tucked away off the highway. We couldn’t recommend it enough!

Loved camping here! It was peaceful and private. The river was beautiful. We camped near site #3. Debora met us at the gate to help us find our site as it was dark when we arrived. If you are by the river make sure to bring some mosquito repellent. We didn't see any dolphins this time but saw lots of other wildlife like crabs, possums, and kangaroos.

I had the most tranquil night in my small off road caravan. Just pulled up in the house paddock, had a ride on my bike, brought honey from the neighbours and enjoyed the sunset. Saw Black Cockatoos flying overhead. Thanks Meredith for sharing your serenity!

Great overall campground. The area provided is lovely lush green grass and plenty of level parking for vehicles. The creek was a little bit smelly at times but not bad enough to want to leave. The camping area would benefit from some camping zones to make it clear to other campers the suitable areas to park. Still plenty of room with sites completely booked ( 3 sites ). Overall would recommend and look forward to staying again.

Gorgeous spot by a cheek full of mangroves. Lots of birds around. Louise was great with the communication and her son was there to greet me and show me around. Felt very private, suited my needs perfectly for the night I stayed. Short drive to stunning beaches and Nelsons Bay.

Pete & Margot were absolutely amazing hosts! It was honestly the best get away my husband and I have had in a very long time. The caravan was decorated in the cutest 70's retro style and provided great comforts during a very wet weekend. Their property is absolutely stunning! The sounds and views of the birds and the native wildlife was an absolute treat to experience. The rain slowed down with enough time for us enjoy beautiful relaxation by the campfire. There was milk, bread, tea, coffee and many other great little comforts around the place that made us feel so welcomed and looked after. Very kind and generous hosts, we will definitely be returning for more Bulahdelah adventures at The Back Road Van :) Thanks again Pete & Margot! See you next time!

You can spend your days fishing, kayaking or enjoying Nelson Bay and surrounding areas and beaches which are only 15 minutes away. Guests have the use of a retreat shelter/fire place/BBQ area and wifi. Campers must try to be self contained bringing their own water, toilet and shower. Sorry, no caravans over 20ft. We welcome tents, campervans, trailer tents and caravans but you need to provide your own drinking water- outside solar shower is available that can be filled up at the rainwater tank by the camp kitchen. We do have 2 x portapotty and 2 x Thunderbox type toilet that can be hired. The price includes the final emptying, Wingham showgrounds has a dump point if you need to empty before. The Paddock suits all vehicles- Max 6 parties at once. We also have more private spot Woodland Area which suits just one party but vehicle access is a couple of mins walk and further to the camp kitchen. Fires allowed but only in contained firepits and off ground. We currently have 5 firepit presently to use at your own site (must be kept off ground on bricks provided). Fires not allowed during total fire bans Take your camping chairs to the edge of 1 of 2 dams and watch our pet ducks. Pets on leashes are welcome. Plenty to see and do around here.

The Branch River Retreat

Our property is private so we ask you to contact us first to ensure we can provide the facilities most suited to you. We are located on a wide river estuary, offering sites in open paddocks, secluded among trees and beside dams. It suits off-road independent hybrid caravaners and tent dwellers. The river is home to mangroves (so mosquitoes feed the leaping fish), all manner of sea creatures and dolphins are frequent in drier periods. Birdlife includes an array of land and waterbirds, such as Eagles, Magpies, Kookaburras, colourful parrots and smaller shyer birds. The wildlife includes kangaroos, wallabies, echidnas, reptiles. You may espy a Koala along the foreshore. For this reason, while we accept dogs, they must be on a leash (if not just for their own safety). The boat ramp has good access for kayaks/canoes. Or just sit on a camper chair and dangle your feet in the water while watching the mud crabs go about their social business. Riverside sites are not powered and do not have water or sewerage. They are situated within 10m to 25m of each other and if this is too close, we recommend booking two sites. Generally, we prefer campers to be 100% self-contained, with their own toilet. A toilet is however accessible, but some 300m to 400m distance from the dams and rivers. There is cold potable running water here for topping up. Sealed roads to the front gate to access the property from north and south. All-weather gravel road access is available, although paddock sites can only be accessed by vehicle during dry periods. Weather willing, we can provide more secluded sites by some lovely dams, (please check conditions if you have concerns). Local groceries can be sourced from Karuah and Stroud. Activities include: - Bird/nature watching - Paddling/canoeing - Fishing - Bike riding (small motor vessels only by arrangement) - Surface type: grass or paddock leveled areas and others with slight slopes and accessed with 4WD (of course subject to weather). - Generally fair to good Mobile phone access. - BYO or Preorder firewood for applicable sites out of fire season. - No electrical connections unless by arrangement (for longer term Hipcampers) - We treat our own sewerage. - No generators please.

A large sheltered area, our camp kitchen, includes fridge, barbeque, electricity, kettle, table, chairs and more. Enjoy bird watching, visiting wallabies in the late afternoon, or looking for fossils in the seasonal creek just a few metres away. The historical town of Stroud is only 10 or so minutes away if you need supplies. Karuah River is close by for swimming and fishing, and the Barrington Tops National Park is approximately 50 minutes away. Ride Dungog is located at The Common in Dungog, for mountain bike enthusiasts. The area includes 650 acres offering trails for all different levels. While visiting Dungog, there are boutique cafes and shops, a historic cinema, and a lot more to see as you wander through the streets. Unfortunately we no longer have parties, including 18ths, 21sts etc.

A stay at Cascades Cottage can be any sort of holiday you like - a romantic getaway, a relaxing and peaceful break, or a fun and action-packed adventure exploring the farm, nearby national parks, the fall, and the rapids which is off the farm about 10 minutes away but a fun and dynamic place where you can swim and explore the natural rock pools that run from the top of a natural stream. Native wildlife make the farm their home. Wallabies, koalas, and platypus can often be seen enjoying the surroundings. Kayak on the dam or spend time on the pier waiting for the platypus to play in the early mornings and late afternoon. A stay at the Cascades will bring you close to nature and give you a wonderful tree change for the duration of your stay. Guests have access to a large freshwater dam and two kayaks are provided for your use (as well as life jackets). Guests can explore the whole property of 220 acres. There are many waterways and rainforest areas as well as fields and paddocks. Please note: There are several sheds on the property that contain farming equipment, and a tent, these areas are private and not to be accessed by guests. Registration number PID-STRA-10884

Waukivory Estate is in the midst of dairy and cattle country and 20 mins from the heart of Gloucester being the closest town to Barrington. With a swimming hole on each boundary and a river/creek winding through the property. It is a pilot site for a foliage farm that our donkeys Daisy and Duke keep a watchful eye on. It is a perfect location to head up into the Barrington mountains or over to our amazing east coast on day trips.
