We offer various grass and bush sites spread out over 160 acres, each peaceful and secluded, within walking distance of amazing natural waterfalls, the clear-running creek dotted with swimming holes, as well as established hiking trails. There is a variety of bird life and wildlife. Trevethan Falls is just a short walk away. Finish the day around your open campfire. You cut or collect your wood from around the property just contact your host. The property has had changes to 3 sites which happened on December the 17th 2023 at around 6am in the Morning we were awoken to the sounds of timber and dirt hitting the house and in a matter of 2 hrs sites 1 /2 and 3 were totally destroyed and the Trevethan Creek was directed through our property, This event was a Landslide from the top of the Moutain which went through the Trevethan Falls and the trees and dirt got caught up in a bottle neck down from the falls. We already had 3 .5 Meters of rain in 4 days! the bottle neck broke out at 6 am hitting us like a freight train and the rest is a good story to tell around a fireplace. We are working hard to clean up sites 1 /2 and 3 which I can see results. Site 1 is open and is very good with water running by the site/ Site 2 is open and we are currently doing work on the new site 2 / Site 3 is currently moved until we clean up the old site. We have a new Site which is Site7 on the creek and very private and Site 4 on the dam and Sites 5 and 6 are bush camps and are very Private. We are hoping to see the tree Kangaroos coming back as well which are good viewing from Midnight on wards to 3 am. Please come and stay we have more sites planed for the future. Please be sure to read the descriptions carefully Pets are welcome but must be kept on a lead at all times. There is also a hobby farm in operation on the property, so you may hear and see the workings of the farm as you explore. We are confident that once you discover this place, you'll return time and time again.

Highland Views

2 sites · RVs, Tents7 acres · Julatten, QLD
Bring your tent, car, caravan or motor home...... there is plenty of room! Highland Views is located in a sleepy little rural area at the end of a road, so there is no through traffic and quite private. There is an abundance of wild life wandering through from the rainforest to the neighboring cattle property including a huge range of birds, numerous wallaby's, and the occasional cassowary. I do have a resident cow on the property. Stewie is extremely friendly and will come to the fence for a pat and will love you even more if you feed him a slice of bread or a carrot. He has no spacial awareness though, so please don’t enter his paddock….. it is pretty scary having a 600kg “puppy” with very big horns bounding toward you wanting to play! The water is tank/bore which is fine for drinking and I am happy for you to fill your water tanks during your stay but I do ask that you use it sparingly…….. no washing of vehicles or vans please 🙏 With only 2 sites, you will absolutely not be crowded in. There are no toilet or shower facilities available so you will need to be fully self contained. This is the perfect base to explore all that the Daintree, Port Douglas and Atherton Tablelands areas have on offer. Julatten Hotel is a great spot for a cold drink and a lovely meal, with live music on the weekends. 9 Mile Store is 2km from your site and has fuel, some groceries items and takeaway food if you don’t feel like cooking. Mossman is only 18km away for most other supplies and services.

Farm camping in Cape Tribulation guide

Overview

Stretching from the Daintree River in the south to the Bloomfield River in the north in Queensland’s Wet Tropics region, Cape Tribulation is known for its wild and remote landscapes. Boardwalks provide easy walking into dense rainforest, mangrove swamps and beaches. For a sweeping view of Cape Tribulation, take the Kulki boardwalk. Experienced hikers can tackle the six-hour Mount Sorrow ridge trail. A village offers grocery stores, cafes and a few resorts, but most people come for the walks and the isolation. The best guided walks focus on the life and culture of the Eastern Kuku Yalanji indigenous people.

Where to go

Daintree Village

The pioneer-era timber logging township of Daintree Village is 48 km south of Cape Tribulation. There’s not much to do at this quirky village, but it’s a good place to stock up on essential supplies, and it has a good pub and a couple of cafes.

Mossman Gorge

The heart of the other section of Daintree National Park, Mossman Gorge is a popular swimming hole among huge granite boulders on the Mossman River. Entry is only via fee-based shuttle bus from the Mossman Gorge Centre.

Cow Bay

The Daintree Discovery Centre at Cow Bay has more than 900 metres of elevated rainforest boardwalks, a 10-metre-high aerial walkway to explore the tree canopy, and a 23-metre tower for expansive views. Self-guided audio tours are included, and visitors gain access to an informative interpretive display.

Kuranda

Kuranda is another rainforest village, best visited on the way north from Cairns. It has several wildlife attractions (including a butterfly house) and offers both Barron River cruises and rainforest walks. It’s unashamedly touristy with lots of markets and souvenir shops, but it’s a scenic stop that can be reached from Cairns via the Skyrail cableway and/or the Kuranda Scenic Rail historic train.

Mount Alexandra (Walu Wugirriga) Lookout

The Mount Alexandra (Walu Wugirriga) lookout, about 5 km from the Daintree River ferry crossing on the road to Cape Tribulation, has the best views of the coast and nearby islands.

When to go

The best months to visit Cape Tribulation are  July to November, during the “dry” season. At this time of year, toxic marine stingers are less likely to inhabit the water. December to March is hot and humid, and from February to March, campers find lots of rain. Cyclones are possible between November and April.
