5 nights at Possum Bush Retreat

We stayed at Nunkeri for 5 nights over the Easter weekend. Sharni was a fantastic host and ensured our needs were well taken care of. Waking up to the sound of horses, cattle, sheep and goats going about their morning ritual....ensured our stay was memorable. Sharni and Graham ensured there was firewood available for our first night, after which we were able to source more material from the property. Short drop toilets are situated around the property and are very clean. The maremma dogs were a sight to see as they ensured the stock were protected...Chief (the alpha) was a social butterfly going from one camp to the other ensuring all campers were looked after. Phone reception is sporadic which further added to the off grid experience. Overall a fantastic experience and if we are ever back in the area will definitely return here.

Weekend Trip to Possum Bush Retreat

The Bagu site we booked was an amazing site! The grounds are kept natural and give you a true sense of being away from the city, but the grass around the camps are well maintained and perfect for groups. No horrible rocky ground to stop pegs from going in. It's not perfectly flat but our group had a camper, tent, campervan and two rooftop tents and we had more than enough level ground to find good spots while still having a huge amount of communal space and a campfire that wasn't too close for comfort. Was a very interactive farmstead with gorgeous animals to pat, Chief was a very welcoming and friendly dog who loved lots of pats and scratches. The hosts Sharni and Graham were so welcoming and kind. Can't give this place enough stars and definitely can't wait to come back.

Sandra and Henri were wonderful hosts—so warm, welcoming, and incredibly accommodating. Their cabin was cozy, clean, and had everything we needed for a relaxing stay. You can really tell they put thought into the little details. I highly recommend staying here if you’re looking for a peaceful getaway in a beautiful setting. Would definitely come back!

Karen and Nick are great hosts and went out of their way to ensure we had a comfortable stay during what was very wet weather by offering the use of an indoor shower and toilet in one of the vacant cabins which we greatly appreciated. The property is located in a central location to many of the great walks and views in the region. We would certainly recommend it as an ideal location to camp and explore the region.

Weekend Trip to Possum Bush Retreat

Possum Bush Retreat is an amazing property, with lots to see and do if you wish. The farm animals wander freely and sometimes come to see you. I was so fortunate to have arrived the day a new miniature horse foal was born and Sharni was so generous in inviting me to have a quick cuddle, she also took me on tour of the property. I was pleasently surprised after reading one reviewer's comments about the campsite being in close proximity to the main house, that you can't see the house at all from the camp site, nor can you hear anything other than the farm animals. I was the only one camping, so I felt like I had the whole world to myself (and the animals, of course). The property is easy to find and is exactly as described, very well maintained, with a lovely, clean dam to swim in and plenty of fire wood in addition to the already prepared camp fire ready to light. I would really encourage others to visit this little peace of paradise.

The Croft Horse Trax Oz Blackbutt

The Croft provides a quiet place to sit relax and take in the fresh air. With 49 species of birds and clear skies above at night to shine a light on how big the universe is. We are also home to endangered GREATER GLIDERS at The Croft! You will have a 5-acres to explore during your visit with a large flat campsite area with power and water if that is what you need. The onsite caravan – BETTY – is available for you if you need a bit more of a glamping holiday. Toilet is a composting toot. Self sufficient sites are available as well in another part of The Croft property near the dam and is accessed via the main property. Options for visitors are tailored for the horse rider however you don’t need a horse to visit and enjoy what The Croft has to offer. You can also spend time with the horses here with a variety of experiences available as extras and as part of package deals and our flag ship Back in the Saddle retreat option. Bookings require pre approval so I can make sure that horses are available if you need a retreat package and to make sure that everything will be ready for your arrival. There are many things to do in Blackbutt as well as spending some time at The Croft. Every 3rd Sunday is our market day, the renowned Blackbutt Bakery is always at your disposal and a great pub for a pub grub night. If you are a rider and have your own horse, there is also a great dressage instructor in Blackbutt – Yarralee Dressage Development – who you can book lessons with during your stay. If you are wanting more western discipline work, I can provide you with some basic instruction on patterns and ranch trail tips. The horse trails network is 500m up the road and has signage with town 1 hour ride away . I have access to the rail trail via private property, or otherwise you can utilise Staines Road to get into Benarkin State Forestry or the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail. Dogs are also welcome who are well behaved and on a leash if others have horses with them. Please note that you MUST ensure your dog has tick prevention prior to arrival. All welcome to visit and please enjoy a campsite that will only ever have 2 bookings at a time in the 1 acre camping area. THIS IS THE AUSSIE BUSH so please if you cant handle smells and snakes, try the HYATT in NOOSA!
