What an awesome spot! Loved the camp, loved Derby. We ended up staying at extra night! The camp was beautiful and peaceful, but I only 2 mins from town. John was an amazing host - helping us out when the kids got sick, taking them for buggy rides and just being all all round nice guy. Would highly recommend this camp :)

We loved our stay at Old Mac’s. The sites are spacious and grassy, the toilets are excellent and the location is close enough to all tourist spots in Launceston. Lucas is so lovely and approachable, a joyful wave as he does the nightly site check. A gorgeous lake on site, close to a cafe and restaurant and firewood and fire buckets for sale/hire, So affordable for what we get - puts many other parks to shame. The donkeys who loved carrots were a great highlight for the kids. Thanks again guys,

Very peaceful stay. Great location to what the area has to offer. Directions were clear. Short drive to town centre which is ideal for supplies. Plenty of firewood. Camp spots spaced out well and was private. Hosts were there and left us to our thing but was easily contactable and very quick to reply.

It’s so peaceful. You don’t have the crowds like Derby. It’s a shame that we couldn’t go and explore the river crossing to get to the Branxholm/Derby track. There were campers right where it is and we didn’t want to intrude on their privacy so had to drive to Derby to ride. We’ll definitely be back though.

Had a great stay at site 3 . Quiet and relaxing. River is a lovely spot but cold for me to go for a dip . Rosie is a lovely host came and welcomed me to her property and gave me fresh eggs for breakfast which were delicious. Highly recommend this Hipcamp stay. Close to Derby .

Wood available for sale at camp to use in fire pits for just $10 a tub. We have just put in a private dump point for guest convince. Our property runs beef and cultivates crops alongside the Ringarooma river, North East Tasmania. We often host mountain bike riders here to access the world-class trails at Derby. Nearby are many marked mountain trails, and numerous falls. Skiing is 1hr away in the winter. Our camping site is alongside cattle grazing paddocks and the Ringarooma river, and we offer one site only, to one group at a time, so it's yours exclusively. A toilet is available nearby. A gravel track descends to the river with a short steep bank preceding the flats. When the track reaches the river the camping site is just through the gate on the right. One gate and two wire gates may require opening on the way and these gates need to be closed again to prevent cattle from wandering. Electrical fencing is in use and alive - please be careful! Wood for your campfire is available to purchase, $15. I can supply fresh sourdough loaves $6 also fresh eggs $3perhalf doz, and fresh cows milk most of the year $5/2L. Fly fish for trout and cook over the coals for a treat. Welcome to bring your dog along, but please keep them under control.

Check in after 9am you get a whole day BEFORE you camp for the night and check out by 3pm this way you get another day here and plenty of daylight to get to your next place This place has river flats surrounded by wilderness and is the first private property on the river, so therefor the LAST property at the end of the road before the road goes into Forestry tracks. Many would consider this place to be very remote.....to us it is close to the City only 50 minutes away over the Mountain gravel roads. If you want to travel on mostly sealed roads go through Fingal and PAST Mathinna. Check maps before you leave as NO reception out here. It is 40 acres and we have MANY MANY free roaming animals, milking goats, ducks, chickens, cows, 3 BIG dogs. (The dogs will get out of the way of cars so just drive ahead and the dogs will move out of your way they have big barks but they are friendly) PLEASE NOTE: If you have any issues with dogs let us know in ADVANCE and we can lock them in their yard for your stay. EVERYONE is told upon arrival to honk/toot your horn if you have any issues or need help and one of us will come and help if you let us know! Otherwise we leave people in peace to camp as they wish and where they want. The property has a big guest house that is currently empty, this is where the flushing toilet is for you to use whilst camping if you like. This Rustic country house is also available for hire/rent, there is hot water via a woodfire (takes up to 5 hours to heat up water $50 per wheelbarrow load of wood) with Big triangle bath and a shower for use if you book the house, (3 single beds and a few new double bed air mattresses are available for your less rugged campers who want to come but need that extra comfort or to be close to a toilet at $40 per person per night.) You are welcome to come camping anytime with a range of needs catered to. Sorry no wheelchair ramps, a single step into the house and one step into the toilet too. Pick whatever spot you like to camp upon, by the river, the rocky island in the river, in the bush, just on the paddock grass anywhere. The big house is for you to use the toilet, kitchen sink and feel free to have a cold shower if you want. You can wander on the property connect with us and if you like you can help feed the animals. We are very happy to host people who love nature and enjoy organic farm life. There is NO wifi or mobile phone reception ZERO, so you can finally enjoy total tranquility.
