Set on a hillside in Black Hills overlooking New Norfolk and the Derwent Valley, Heimat Farmstay offers breathtaking panaromic countryside and mountain views. Mount Wellington, the Sleeping beauty range and mountains of Mount Field national park can all be seen from the property. Outdoor Experience: Step outside and immerse yourself in the serenity of our 100-acre hobby farm. Wander through the woodland and let the beauty of native wildlife capture your imagination. The expansive views of the Derwent Valley, combined with sightings of local fauna, create a tranquil and unforgettable experience. Animal Interactions: Farm tours can be arranged at weekends for guests to join us to meet the animals; Our adorable fluffy Highland cows love a good brush and are always jostling for attention, some of them are also keen on treats of apple slices. Our trio of Suri Alpacas are a wonderful blend of goofy and graceful. They will come and say hello and Thunder gives cute 'eskimo kisses' Penelope Jane (PJ) and Duncan are our gorgeous mini donkeys, they are endless fun watching them play and wrestle. They both love a good scratch and cuddles and plenty of human company. Our 3 mini goats Huckleberry, Dudley and Elfie are cheeky little chappies and what they lack in size, they make up for in character. They all like a good head scratch and pat Wildlife Encounters: We also share our 100 acre hobby farm with an array of Tasmanian native wildlife including wallabies, pademelons, possums, echidnas, bandicoots, wombats, quolls and even Tassie Devils. Wedge tail eagles and hawks soar the dams, native hens (turbo chooks!) rush around the paddocks and if you are lucky you may spot a tawny frogmouth sitting on the fence watching for his prey at night. Nature enthusiasts and photographers will find plenty of opportunities to observe and capture the unique flora and fauna of Tasmania.

Nala Pakana is a 79-acre vegetarian/vegan property nestled in native Australian bush roughly one hour's drive from Hobart Tasmania. Join us to camp on this unique property or stay in our wee heritage caravan named Tree Spirit. There is an abundance of firewood on the ground for you to collect and use at no charge. A wildlife refuge where love and care for the natural environment are highly prioritised. Verona Sands beach is located at the end of the road, the ferry to Bruny Island half an hour away, and there are ample opportunities to see black cockatoos, wallabies, paddymelons, echidnas, faery wrens, wedge-tailed eagles and so many more bird species, a twitcher's paradise. The small wooden home is off the grid, built by hand over forty years ago with timber from the property and no power tools. There is an extensive permaculture garden enclosed by a corrugated iron fence built from recycled materials. The resident companion animals are three dogs, a cat, three bunnies, two roosters, 16 chickens, and two goats. Nick and Theresa have one eight year-old daughter who follows a natural learning approach to education, so no school. We spend our time gardening, building from recycled materials, and cooking. Nick is a fantastic bush builder and can mend, renovate anything out of scraps. Theresa is a very experienced Ayurvedic vegan cook and gardener along with a professional writer and provider of Spiritual Readings. Nick spent many years as a school teacher and canvas maker Theresa taught meditation, mindful living, and cooking. Nick continues to work as a school teacher part-time. Both Nick and Theresa share a great love for the natural world, natural living, and a life informed by intuition. Sites for vehicles are close by to a all year running creek, paddock access with private locations, no toilets or showers provided, Council have installed a refuse site for processing of grey waste etc nearby

We are approximately 4km from the shops at Ellendale with stunning views of Mt Field East. Our property contains two camping grounds next to a healthy creek, all with plenty of space and privacy, and an orchard where seasonal fruits (Late Summer/Autumn only) can be handpicked. We are listing our property as 4WD only if you wish to take your vehicle directly into the camping areas. 2WD vehicles can be parked in a safe area just after the entrance to make your way on foot to camping spots. The town has a children's park which contains play equipment, exercise equipment and a BBQ facility and public toilets. The shops provide basic essentials and a post office. A supermarket is situated in the nearby town of Ouse approximately 20 minutes drive from our property. Nothing is provided, so please be self-sufficient before arriving and leave no trace. Campfires in designated areas only (not during fire ban periods). PETS NOT PERMITTED, SORRY.
