Enjoy coastal cliff hikes, tulip gardens, and deep-sea fishing on Tassie’s northwest coast.
Sitting at the mouth of Inglis River along Tasmania’s northwest coast, Wynyard is a popular town along the scenic Bass Highway, which winds its way along the coast from Devonport. Wynward camping favours quality over quantity. Pitch your tent at a local farm with views across the countryside, secure a tranquil site at the riverside caravan park, or check into a seaside tourist park with powered sites, a camp kitchen, and an amenities block, plus cabin rentals available. Once you’ve found a spot to set up camp, the first stops for new arrivals are typically Table Cape, a coastal plateau formed on an ancient volcanic plug most famous for its colourful tulip farm (visit in September or October to see the flowers in bloom) and the historic Table Cape Lighthouse. After hiking the coast, set sail on a deep-sea fishing charter, go trout fishing along the river, or relax on the white sands of Boat Harbour Beach.
