Metcalfe's rural landscape still remains largely untouched, giving a real feeling of freedom and fresh air, filled with wildlife and sensational scenic adventures to enjoy, like the stunning cascades just up the road. Redbank offers sites across 200 acres of land, SITE 1 a main area offers 4 large sites suited to campers wanting to be super close to toilet, shower, camp kitchen, and playgrounds, which is a major hit with the kids making it a popular spot for families. The camp kitchen has dining space and barbecue facilities. There are about 6 paddock sites that are still within walking distance to all facilities but are nicely spread out to provide guests with there own space. We have 4 sites that you will either need to be a self-sufficient camper, or keen for a hike to facilities as these sites offer a lot more privacy and would need 4wD to access. 2 more sites that you must completely self sufficient and have 4wd skills. We are a no trace camp ground and ask you to take all waste with you when you leave. Dogs are permitted in camps but must be kept on a leash to protect our livestock. Redbank is a working Farm and you will likely see or hear evidence of this during your stay, but we are very considerate of our campers and have had a wonderful experience sharing our land so far and had very happy campers. Our property, "Seven Hills Tallarook", sits high above Tallarook with deep valleys and high peaks, just over one hour North of Melbourne's CBD. The property is 600 acres of thick Victorian bush and farmed paddocks. We have a wide range of hobby farm animals - pigs, sheep, cattle, alpacas, chickens, ponies, a donkey, along with commercial heard of South African Boer Goats. As night falls, the wildlife come out to play - kangaroos, rabbits, deer and wallabies Internally, we have in excess of 10 kilometers of roads within the property, the majority being 2WD accessible (weather conditions apply). There are parts of the property which are only 4WD accessible. Our campsites are placed to allow you to be as isolated as possible - away from other campers (you may see others as you drive past, or they drive past you).

A working sheep property with some cropping, It is home to the well known Rodvale Border Leicester Stud. Fronting Deep Creek, guests have access to fishing or just sit and listen to the crystal clear water meandering past the campsites. The farm borders Tullaroop Reservoir which is only a ten minute walk from most campsites, there you can find public toilets and picnic areas it is well known for its fly fishing for trout. The boat ramp is around 400m from the front gate and guests are welcome to leave vehicles and trailers on the property for convenience. We are in the early stage of our journey, as we build our house and set up the homestead infrastructure. Long-term, our plan is to be semi-self-sufficient, and to grow almost all of the food we need to feed ourselves, and the friends/housemates who will live here with us. Currently it's just two adults and one child living here, but soon it will be a thriving and bustling co-living community and homestead. From June 2024 onwards there may be up to 13 housemates living here with us including kids, in our purpose-built hempcrete passive house. We are on 10 acres of mostly open paddock, surrounded by a small seasonal creek on one side, a large 200m swimmable dam on the other, and 50 acres of nature reserve to explore next door. The expansive Muckleford State Forest is just beyond, great for mountain biking, bush-walking and discovering old historical relics from the gold mining days. We are just 5km from Castlemaine town centre, which is an easy cycle or a 5 min drive. Staying with us, you'll enjoy a unique mix of community life and nature time. All guests are expected to join us in the main house for our communal dinner each evening at 6pm. Your camping fee includes the cost of dinner. For the remainder of your stay, you are welcome to cook and enjoy your own meals solo, as you like. We have 4 sites to offer at Sundar Goldfields Camping. Our 50 acre property features undulating bushland with views of farmlands, wetlands and distant mountains. The name is Hindu for "beautiful". Our rammed earth home sits in the middle of the property and our camping sites are located between our house and the road into the property. We are situated halfway between Maldon and Castlemaine with easy access to both these two interesting towns that attract many tourists to the region. Campers are required to be self sufficient with their own toilet/shower facilities and must take all waste and rubbish with them on departure. The individual sites are called Billabong View (green signs), Wetlands View (blue signs), Mountain View (red signs) and we have recently added Gully View. It is unlikely you will hear other guests as there is a good distance between sites. The largest site is Mountain View and can accommodate the most number of guests and is well suited to caravans. Billabong view is probably not suitable during Winter (or heavy rain periods) as it is located in a dip and therefore damp if we have a lot of rain. Billabong View is closest to the road, therefore, the least private. Wetlands View has 3 different sites that all overlook the large dam and birdlife that requent the wetlands. Gully View is secluded and surrounded by bushland. It does not have water views and it's entrance is located 60m from the front gate, on the right side of our road into the property. Kangaroos and cockatoos are regular visitors to our property. Bird life is abundant and we sometimes see Echidnas and Shingleback lizards. It is a peaceful area and close to the steam train track so the train can be heard in the distance on the days that the Victorian Goldfields Railway service runs. There are great walks from the property towards the Maldon-Castlemaine rail trail. We supply firewood, if required, and camp fires are allowed at certain times of the year. There are a variety of beautiful campsites suitable for self-contained guests who have their own toilet/shower facilities and drinking water. Fires are permitted out of fire restriction times and feel free to bring your furry friends, making sure they're leashed at all times. The farm is completely surrounded by the Wellsford state forest which offers bush walking and many tracks for bike riding. Mt Sugarloaf which is situated south of the property provides a great hike. Spectacular sunrises and sunsets create beautiful reflections on the water in the numerous dams on the property. Rainfall can restrict access to sites on the property. The city of Bendigo is 25mins drive. Epsom is a 15min drive where you will find a shopping centre which includes a petrol station, Woollies, Pizza, Chemist Warehouse, Aldi, Brumbys Bakery, Reject Shop, Fish and Chips and BWS. Lake Eppalock is a 25min drive where you can engage in water sport activities. The Campaspe River is 10mins away. The farm is very quiet and restful with the sounds of abundant native bird life and provides great subjects and scenery for the photographic enthusiast.

Rodborough Vale

There are separate campsites available. Rodborough Vale is 600 acres with a combination of creek flats, native bushland and rocky volcanic outcrops. A working sheep property with some cropping, It is home to the well known Rodvale Border Leicester Stud. Farming in harmony with the native fauna and flora, guests may be able to spot many native species including platypus, wedge tail eagles, kookaburra and many more. Fronting Deep Creek, guests have access to fishing or just sit and listen to the crystal clear water meandering past the campsites. The farm borders Tullaroop Reservoir which is only a ten minute walk from most campsites, there you can find public toilets and picnic areas it is well known for its fly fishing for trout. The boat ramp is around 400m from the front gate and guests are welcome to leave vehicles and trailers on the property for convenience. Note : The reservoir is currently only open to electric powered boats and canoes. Dogs are welcome but must be very well behaved around sheep. Flushing toilet available at the shearing shed. Good access for caravans and large RV's. Local attractions are the historic towns of Maldon, Clunes, Avoca and Dunolly all part of the Central Goldfields.

The property is 600 acres of thick Victorian bush and farmed paddocks. We have a wide range of hobby farm animals - pigs, sheep, cattle, alpacas, chickens, ponies, a donkey, along with commercial heard of South African Boer Goats. As night falls, the wildlife come out to play - kangaroos, rabbits, deer and wallabies Internally, we have in excess of 10 kilometers of roads within the property, the majority being 2WD accessible (weather conditions apply). There are parts of the property which are only 4WD accessible. Our campsites are placed to allow you to be as isolated as possible - away from other campers (you may see others as you drive past, or they drive past you).

We are a small permaculture homestead and co-living community with a focus on regenerative agriculture, natural building & communal living. We are in the early stage of our journey, as we build our house and set up the homestead infrastructure. Long-term, our plan is to be semi-self-sufficient, and to grow almost all of the food we need to feed ourselves, and the friends/housemates who will live here with us. Currently it's just two adults and one child living here, but soon it will be a thriving and bustling co-living community and homestead. From June 2024 onwards there may be up to 13 housemates living here with us including kids, in our purpose-built hempcrete passive house. We are on 10 acres of mostly open paddock, surrounded by a small seasonal creek on one side, a large 200m swimmable dam on the other, and 50 acres of nature reserve to explore next door. The expansive Muckleford State Forest is just beyond, great for mountain biking, bush-walking and discovering old historical relics from the gold mining days. We are just 5km from Castlemaine town centre, which is an easy cycle or a 5 min drive. Staying with us, you'll enjoy a unique mix of community life and nature time. All guests are expected to join us in the main house for our communal dinner each evening at 6pm. Your camping fee includes the cost of dinner. For the remainder of your stay, you are welcome to cook and enjoy your own meals solo, as you like. You might like to spend your free time adventuring, exploring the property, swimming in the dam, or if it tickles your fancy, joining in on community activities like board-games or music jams at the main house.
