Our property is located in the historical town of Maldon in Central Victoria. The campsites are among some huge granite boulders and undulating farm land.The property overlooks the Nuggety Ranges and Mount Tarrengower to the south east and the Pyrenees Ranges in the distance which provides us with some of the most stunning sunsets.Take a ride on the Victorian Goldfields Railway, explore the Maldon Markets or take a ride or a walk on the Catlemaine to Maldon trail. We are also close to a number of great wineries where you can sample local wines and produce. There are also a number of other great restaurants in the area.We are also within easy reach of Mount Alexander Regional Park which has a number of beautiful walking trails and lookouts.Pets are welcome but must be kept on a leash at all times to ensure the livestock are protected. Campfires are allowed in the fire pit provided pending there are no restrictions in place. We have tank water available.

Please read all the info before you book... This is an ideal spot for a quiet getaway or as a home base if you want to explore the surrounding areas of Dunolly or Dunolly itself. Early mornings and late evenings you may be lucky to receive visits from Kangaroos. Camp freely around the designated campfire and enjoy an amazing star-gazing experience (on clear nights). The water hole is good for yabbies and great for skipping stones. We swim in it occasionally but prefer to go to the lake. We cannot endorse any swimming or entering the water hole as it is a liability issue and we cannot be responsible for anyone who chooses to swim or enter the area of the waterhole. Dunolly town has a great bakery, a pub, and a supermarket. Lake Laanacoorie 15 mins drive. Great for fishing, boats, and swimming. ***Pit-toilet (portable) available: - There is a pit toilet available for camper use but it's recommended to have a portaloo and use the onsite dunny as an emergency only. ***Keep Clean. -We ask that you take any rubbish with you when you leave. We would appreciate it if you could leave the property as you found it on arrival. ***Warning. -Regular pest control in the area might be a threat to your pet so please ensure that your pet does not stray too far off the property without your supervision. Pest control is usually concentrated in the state forest behind the property. ***Fire Wood: - You can BYO firewood or collect from the roadside. The state forest at the rear may be helpful but please don't cut down any trees. There is often a fallen tree that you can chop up if you have a chainsaw but it'll be easier to find on the roadside or BYO. If I'm able to provide firewood it'll be stacked but this is not something to depend on as it just depends on availability and time that I may not have. ***More info. -The campsite is close to the water hole which means it's also at the front of the property and approx 120m from the main road. You will see a vehicle passing by maybe once per hour in the daytime.

Merriwoola is a property of outstanding natural beauty and offers guests a sanctuary from the world surrounded by parkland bush, mysterious boulders resting amongst the trees and numerous native animals including wombats, echidnas, kanagroos, wallabies, possums, koala and the most extraordinary birdlife. The property is defined by an ancient water course that cuts a 1km ravine through the property. During the winter the dry boulder-strewn gorge is transformed with waterfalls and cascades along its length and regardless of the season transports you to another time and place. There is limited solar power (enough for phones and laptops) and low flow water (enough to brush your teeth). Neither is guaranteed to be available. A wood stove heats the hut, boils the kettle and cooks your dinner; firewood is included. An open outdoor bathroom includes a sink, bath and drop toilet. Hot water is available but not promised. The hut is fenced and well-behaved dogs are welcome. This property is suited to resourceful guests who are familiar with lighting fires, swinging an axe and understanding rural courtesies. The abundance of wildlife is used to peace so if you are taking a dog with you then please keep it within eyesight and always under your control. First of all, thank Belinda to let us stay at her paddock. She was always responsive and helpful. Enjoying one night at there was just perfect for us especially my 5years old son who wandered freely on the paddock holding a bucket and picking up humongous fallen pine corns and branches from the ground. The paddock was privately positioned back of the property surrounded by tall pine trees. The paddock was vast, clean and safe. We could have a chance to see a wild echidna for the first time. It was behind the upside-down green steel shed near the wooden table. We didn’t bring our dogs this time but would be careful around there when the dogs are off leash. We will definitely plan to camp here again.

This is an awesome spot with easy access into Bendigo. We were very comfortable on Site 2, and stayed for the long weekend. All the sites are very spacious, clean and provided all the necessary amenities for a comfortable stay. Chrissy was a great communicator and made us feel very welcome, along with her Mum (Judy). We received very clear instructions to navigate our way there. The dogs and cat are very friendly, loved their daily visits. We highly recommend Whip Stick Forest, heaps better than a Caravan Park! Thanks Chrissy!

First time camper with four other families. We had an absolute blast staying at Jemillia's property. We were welcomed by Aaron and he guided us to our camping site and gave us a briefing of the property. We wanted our first camping experience to be less crowded but still have the ability to wash off the kids after a whole day playing and the shower facility was ideal. Despite Melbourne experiencing warmer day the camping site was perfectly cooled under the tree shades and cool breeze throughout the day and in the evening. The next time we're back we'll be sure to make use of the lake more as we saw other families fishing or in a canoe and raft. Would totally recommend it to anyone looking for a family friendly camping site.

But a phone call to Taylan resolved our problem. New to Hip camp it was our fault. (Though two 78 year olds visiting from England are proud of our trip) This site is one we will treasure!

This was such a lucky find as it was booked out but a cancellation saw Mark contact me and I believe we had the best spot on the property. Only our second time our camper trailer out and our first time solo and off grid. We had a spot right on the bend of a fresh flowing creek which was beautiful to swim in. Bella our dog had a ball, wondered who were the wooly dogs walking around saying Baaaaa 🤭 Perfect weather, privacy, a toilet by the shearer’s shed (with an option to hire a portaloo which would be great if a few of you) Mark greeted us and our site had a great set up for a campfire. Did I mention the stars at night of wow. Mother Nature tested us on Sunday night with a dust storm, followed by a thunderstorm and rain but all settled and we were back out by the campfire. Late nights with singing by the campfire Great food A drink or two Late mornings Bocci in the sheep paddock (you get used of the poop) 20 minute drive to town to grab some ice and charge my lights and speaker ha ha We can’t wait to bring the family back It certainly ticked every box. Rodborough Vale was a superb place to set up for the long weekend with our caravan & Mark is a terrific host. Flat site, easy to access and safe places to set up camp clear of trees if you wish. We had such a relaxing time & the dogs absolutely loved it too! With some pretty hot weather, we really enjoyed the swimming hole at Weeping Willow and pleasant shade from the magnificent trees. Plenty of space to move around and we loved going for a walk to the nearby reservoir and around the property, plus visiting Clunes and Maldon. Thanks for having us Mark and we’ll definitely be back with the extended family.

There are separate campsites available. Rodborough Vale is 600 acres with a combination of creek flats, native bushland and rocky volcanic outcrops. A working sheep property with some cropping, It is home to the well known Rodvale Border Leicester Stud. Farming in harmony with the native fauna and flora, guests may be able to spot many native species including platypus, wedge tail eagles, kookaburra and many more. Fronting Deep Creek, guests have access to fishing or just sit and listen to the crystal clear water meandering past the campsites. The farm borders Tullaroop Reservoir which is only a ten minute walk from most campsites, there you can find public toilets and picnic areas it is well known for its fly fishing for trout. The boat ramp is around 400m from the front gate and guests are welcome to leave vehicles and trailers on the property for convenience. Note : The reservoir is currently only open to electric powered boats and canoes. Dogs are welcome but must be very well behaved around sheep. Flushing toilet available at the shearing shed. Good access for caravans and large RV's. Local attractions are the historic towns of Maldon, Clunes, Avoca and Dunolly all part of the Central Goldfields.

As night falls, the wildlife come out to play - kangaroos, rabbits, deer and wallabies. Internally, we have in excess of 10 kilometers of roads within the property, the majority being 2WD accessible (weather conditions apply). There are parts of the property which are only 4WD accessible. Our campsites are placed to allow you to be as isolated as possible - away from other campers (you may see others as you drive past, or they drive past you). At some of our bush sites, you will be able to see other campers, but they are not close by. Additionally, we have now entered our Fire Danger Period for the 2024/2025 Summer Season. We have not toggled the Fire Ban on as we do still allow campfires, however campers MUST adhere to CFA guidelines at all times. On days of Total Fire Ban (TFB), no fires, including gas stoves can be lit outdoors. Furthermore, we reserve the right to ask you not to light a fire regardless of TFB status if we feel weather conditions are unsafe, especially the wind element. We cannot plan the weather and the request to not light your campfires will most likely on the day and we will advise as such. Our interest is with your safety, our neighbors and our property & family.

Here you will find a nice open space amongst the gum trees with drinking water, toilet, and outdoor shower. rubbish/recycling bins and access to wifi if needed. Relax under the stars with a warm fire in a secluded spot in the middle of open space and the fresh air. The property is fenced off, so you can feel safe and secure. You can relax and let the kids can run around knowing they are safe inside the camp ground. There are five dogs who live here. They are all friendly and love people. Especially Daz who will be your best friend while you stay here. If you don't like dogs you probably shouldn't stay here as Daz loves people. Only minutes from town where you will find supplies, close to the local swimming pool and 10 minutes from a popular watering hole. Enjoy all that Bendigo and surrounding areas have to offer, check out the historic gold mining attractions and come home to rest in a tranquil setting amongst the trees, the birds and the stars. The night sky is not to be missed on a clear night. A fire pit is provided and fire wood is available for sale. No wood is to be collected from the property. We ask that you leave the place as you found it. You can BYO firewood. IMPORTANT: We do not offer toilet facilities, so all campers MUST be self contained and take all waste including rubbish with them. Strictly no dumping of waste or greywater on the property. Pets are welcome, but they MUST remain on the property to protect wildlife, neighbors livestock and for their own safety. A short 15 minute drive to Bendigo CBD and 25 minutes to Heathcote, there are lots of activities to do and see including wineries, breweries, and cafes. 10 minutes to the popular Lake Eppalock, there are other National/State Parks to visit, with the popular O’Keefe Rail Trail within 10 minutes.
