Discover country hospitality, A dip in the newly built swimming pool is a must for families on the warmer days The Lyrebird Forest Walk is a pretty half hour bushwalk or a longer walk and a river walk that is on the north entry to the town with lots of seating available which are all named after volunteers that have created these walks There is also the rail trail which follows the old railway line all the way to Boolarra and the Morwell River Falls a short drive from Boolarra The Naracan falls is on the way to Thorpedale Head for the hills to Walhalla old mining town and steam train rides Willow grove and the Blue Rock Dam makes for a pretty drive to north in the hills You are only 45 min drive to the coast of Inverloch and Tarwin Lower Waratah Wineries.... and follow the South Gippsland highway all the way to the very pretty towns of the Meeniyan, Foster, Toora, Agnus Water Falls, Port Welshpool, historic Port Albert, Yarram, Woodside and the ninety mile beach, Tarra Bulga National Park, enjoying lovely views of the coast on the way. The Fern Glade

Nestled right beside the Murrundini River, all 3 campsites are beside the river, and well spaced apart for privacy and peace. Campsite 2 (site two) is shady, surrounded by tall swamp gums, black wood wattles and tree ferns. This spot is at its best from late spring through to autumn . Site One is a large flat area beside the river that is good all year round. It has fencing and gates, perfect to let dogs run free without going too far. Site 3 (Craig's flat), is a large open campsite, able to take more camper-vans/ tents with plenty of space. All sites have fire places. And there are plenty of fish for those that want to try their luck. The original home stead (built in 1876) burnt down in the 2009 black Saturday fires. There still remains many 150+ year old elms and other European trees near the toilet block, which are delightful in autumn. We have some fantastic views from the hill up and down the Murundindi Valley, especially at sunset. We're located only a few short km's from Wilhelmina Falls and Murundindi Scenic Reserve, you get the best part of the river, without the crowds. We are a short drive from Melbourne, and easy access to the townships of Yea and Yarra Glen for supplies if you need them. Amazing, abundant & rare bird life to enjoy and photograph. Sorry to say No Generators and No Loud music Set in the King Valley close to the foothills of the Wabonga Plateau Alpine National Park. We have the King River very close 5 min's by road , and are surrounded by magnificent wineries and bushland to wander around in. Campers can choose from 3 different locations for their stay. The camp is in or around Shelter Hut or open grass land in your own Tent. Campers will have access to two composting toilets during their stay but you will need to bring along your own toilet paper with you. Please remove all rubbish on departure. Campfires we sell firewood and dogs are welcome but dogs aren't allowed roam freely due to wildlife.

The state forest has many walking tracks that go on for miles, perfect if you want to go horse riding, motor bike riding or mountain biking or put on a pair of comfy walking shoes to hit the many walking tracks to take in the beautiful bush setting with the occasional wallaby or kangaroo darting out of the bush across your path. We have the Great Southern Rail Trail just on our door step. It has now been completed from Nyora all the way through to Yarram. We have on of the entrances off Lanes Road. Close to all local attractions - Port Albert, Port Welshpool long jetty, Woodside's beautiful 90 mile beach, Tarra Bulga National Parks, spectacular Agnes Falls and Wilson's Prom. Our camp sites have plenty of room we don't believe in cramming too many campers on the same site, you have plenty of space. Suitable for large caravans, camper trailers, motor homes and RV's these can all can fit here easily. Sites 1 - 2 situated in a 4 acre paddock on the main farm. Perfect for small camper vans, roof top tents and motor homes. Site 3-5 situated on part of a 7 acre paddock with views of the hills and of the kangaroos that come onto the paddocks of a night out of the Alberton West State Forest. This site is perfect for larger vans, RV's, camper vans, roof top tents, motor homes. Campfires are permitted (When there are no fire bans). No loud music, bring a camping toilet with you and take all rubbish with you. You'll need to have your own amenities/be FULLY- self contained however if you don't have your own toilet, camp shower or fire pit you can hire them. We have an abundance of native birds on our property. Rosella's, Kookaburras, Wedge Tail Eagles and sometimes Galah's. Just down the paddock on dawn and dusk we have a mob of kangaroos that come out of the bush to graze.

Please read the whole listing, lots to tell you about us. Campsites 1 is large and can accommodate two vans and 2 - 3 tents (or 14 -16 people). Campsites 2 and 3 are smaller and more suited to one van with 1 - 2 tents (or 4 - 6 people). Ample car parking. Campsites are 110m apart with a light screen of trees in between, no crowds here. Accessed via 3.5km of rough dirt track - not recommended for low vehicles or low towing vans. The track is rough BUT easily driven by all vehicles - just drive slowly. Dogs welcome, firewood is easily gathered by you, and often in piles by your campsite. Campsites are NOT near water. They are near a dry gully, with an **** unfenced dam.**** We have a beautiful swimming hole at the property entrance, in Boggy Creek. Guests are welcome to enjoy the shaded lawn area, BBQ and pot belly fire. The creek is 3kms from the campsites. Near The Hut is the gate to take a walk up to Sugar Loaf (500m return), where you can see amazing grass trees and place a rock on the cairn. Look for the wallabies that live up there. Stay with us to get away from crowded campsites, to enjoy a quieter holiday, while being close to a great tourist district. The King Valley showcases wineries, gourmet food, eateries, restaurants, pubs, brewery, even a gin distillery. We are surrounded by creeks, rivers and lakes, with many fishing, swimming and kayaking options - all within a 30 minute drive! Take a walk to the top of Sugar Loaf, and see unique grass trees on this rocky hill, while catching sight of Mount Buffalo. 8kms to Moyhu which has a pub, coffee shop, general store - all with great food options. Otways Farm Hideaway

Green, tranquil and picturesque. Kangaroos and wallabies often emerge at dawn and dusk from beneath the 150-foot tall eucalypts of the Great Otway National Park along our farm's eastern boundary. Occasionally koalas nestle in trees around the camping area. You can swim in the unfenced dam, which is fed by a mountain spring on our 200-acre property. But please be aware that the unfenced dam is a drowning hazard for children, so we don't accept bookings that include children under 10 for public liability reasons. We've limited the number of campsites to 2 in an area that could host 200 (see both listings on Hipcamp of our 2 campsites at slightly different prices). If you would like even more seclusion, then you are welcome to book both sites so you can talk, drink and play music as late as you like, without having to consider another group of campers. This is a totally different holiday experience to a crowded beach resort, caravan park or camping ground. It's like a hideaway in the hills. Our livestock is the reason why we cannot allow pets on the farm, except for guide dogs and legally accredited assistance dogs. Even small dogs who haven't previously seen a cow can cause stampedes. Please also be aware that from mid-December to mid-April, the CFA enforces district-wide bans on campfires. Fortunately, gas stoves and gas barbecues are allowed across the summer, unless specific days are declared as total fire ban days due to extreme heat. Please note that wood-fired barbecues or burners, even if enclosed and fitted with a chimney, still present a spark/ember hazard across summer, so are not permitted. The owner is a member of the local CFA, so there are no exceptions to these fire restrictions. Also, no parties please. There is a flushing toilet for each site. It is a septic system, so to keep the toilets working properly it is important to only flush human waste and toilet paper. Things like wet wipes and cooking grease will clog up the system. Camping trailers and campervans work better on the sites than heavy caravans or motorhomes. Rain at any time of year can make heavy vehicles difficult to manoeuvre into position or tow out without getting bogged and causing major damage to the grass covering the campsites. The sites are on slight inclines, so levellers can be useful. It's also worth noting there is nowhere to empty caravan/motorhome toilets on or near our campsites (the nearest free toilet waste disposal facility is at Winchelsea, although there is a facility in Colac that requires a small payment). When camp-fires are permitted, guests can bring their own axe, saw or chainsaw to cut up deadwood near the campsites on the important and non-negotiable condition that using their tools is entirely at their own risk. Alternatively, bags of split firewood can be bought from local suppliers in the district or your hosts.

We border the Mitchell river with the farm so there are about 1 km of secluded banks to sit or swim from if you want to just stay put. For those wanting pure relaxation, meditation, and soul grounding. We can personally show you some tremendous places on the farm to go within. Pure solace is something that many take for granted. Use our pyramid to draw in Quantum/etheric energy, go to the top of our crystal hill and feel the energies. There is so much to be thankful for when you can release in these spaces. Alternatively sit amongst the cows and feel their energy surround you as their curious nature brings them in closer and closer until they relax around you. Alternatively if you want to chill with a beer on the river bank and try for some bass, or watch the eastern water dragons play in the sun and water, then that’s a great way to unwind, or soak up the sun rays as it drops below the horizon on the crystal hill or rolling flood plains. A personal favourite of a campfire and a few drinks with the stars is a great way to unwind when you have so much space and privacy. The sites are located next to our rental lodge where we sometimes do retreats, or holiday let it as well. The privacy is wonderful if that's what you are looking for. A walk each morning from one end of the farm where you will stay to the other and back is a leisurely 2kms so maybe that is your morning start, but walk the lanes and check the fences and cows while you're at it please 🙂, ticks a job for us while your relaxing. Want to learn about the history of the area? Well a session with us will teach you everything didn't know about the Dargo High Plains, the mountain cattlemen of the high country and much more. Take advantage of your time to enjoy the history of the area and the wonderful past times enjoyed. What is available off farm? Number one, the pub with great counter meals is across the river, 5kms away. Lindenow Farmers Hotel is iconic in its design and history, the reputed Lindenow Long Paddock Cafe is also a few hundred metres from the pub, and the Post Office and Store have all your essentials. Need a few more things? Bairnsdale is 24kms away from the farm and offers all you need. Lakes Entrance is about 40 mins for a day out on the beach. Paynesville around 30 mins. If you want to venture up into the mountains then why not go through Dargo just 45 mins and up onto Mt Hotham (Summer only) via the Dargo High Plains. It’s a great track and on occasions I take people up for a guided tour and secret camp spots on my yearly run up there for my own relax time. East Gippsland in general is a wonderful region to stop and relax during all seasons but especially summer with the water activities available, the camping in the high country, and the markets that abound the area. Campsite 2 (site two) is shady, surrounded by tall swamp gums, black wood wattles and tree ferns. This spot is at its best from late spring through to autumn . Site One is a large flat area beside the river that is good all year round. It has fencing and gates, perfect to let dogs run free without going too far. Site 3 (Craig's flat), is a large open campsite, able to take more camper-vans/ tents with plenty of space. All sites have fire places. And there are plenty of fish for those that want to try their luck. The original home stead (built in 1876) burnt down in the 2009 black Saturday fires. There still remains many 150+ year old elms and other European trees near the toilet block, which are delightful in autumn. We have some fantastic views from the hill up and down the Murundindi Valley, especially at sunset. We're located only a few short km's from Wilhelmina Falls and Murundindi Scenic Reserve, you get the best part of the river, without the crowds. Overview

There are so many ways to go wild in Victoria. Fall asleep to the boom of the surf from your beachfront campsite, drive one of the world's most scenic coastal roads, glamp it up in the middle of a vineyard, or touch the sky in the snow-capped high country. If it's animal encounters you like, you'll love the penguin parade on Phillip Island and dolphin swims in Port Phillip Bay, as well as the chance to see koala colonies, mobs of kangaroos, and platypus-filled streams. Plus, the bonus to Victoria is that nowhere is more than a day's drive from Melbourne—many of the best campsites are only a few hours drive from the city—so you can cram a lot of fun into a relatively short amount of time.

Where to go

Great Ocean Road

The Great Ocean Road west of Melbourne is one of the world's great scenic road trips, but there’s much more to see and do than snapping a selfie at the Twelve Apostles rock stacks. Zipline above the rainforest in Great Otway National Park, climb lighthouses, watch whales, surf iconic Bells Beach, and pitch a tent on any one of several beachside camping areas. Road tripping doesn't get much better than this.

Gippsland and the Bays

Gippsland stretches east of Melbourne to the sea and north to the border with NSW. Most of the coastline is protected by a string of national parks with fantastic seaside camping spots and holiday parks—and camping at Wilsons Promontory (locals just call it the Prom) on the mainland’s southernmost tip is a must-do at least once. This is also where you’ll find Phillip Island, home to the famous nightly penguin parade.

The Victorian Alps

The High Country is the place to go for winter snow sports and summer mountain bike trails, plus bushwalking. If that sounds too energetic, it’s also home to the Great Alpine Road, one of Australia's best food and wine touring routes (and yes, the scenery is pretty good too).

The Grampians

In the state's west, the Grampians are another mountain playground with a network of bushwalking trails, from quick 2-hour walking tracks to 3-day hikes in the Grampians National Park. This is also where campers can find the highest concentration of Indigenous art in the state. Opt for bush camping sites in the national park or more luxurious campsites at Halls Gap or Dunkeld caravan parks.

Murray Riverlands

Australia's longest river, the mighty Murray forms most of the border with NSW to the north, and all along its length are great beachfront campsites from where you can go for a swim or paddle a kayak, catch a fish, or sit back and watch the world glide by. Elsewhere in the riverlands, ride a restored paddle steamer at Echuca, take a cruise through the largest river red gum forest in the world at Barmah, and dine out in the foodie hot spot of Mildura.
