4 nights at Casa Cucina / River House

Chris is a lovely host, who has put together an amazing camp site by the river, together with the quirky studio. The studio was the icing on the cake, especially this time of year when the weather can be unpredictable. The view of the camp site upon arrival, exceeded all expectations. Highly recommended, and definately should be at the top of everbodies list. Our number one choice for camping. Thank you again Chris.

We weren’t disappointed in the slightest. A stunning spot, great setup, really friendly and generous hosts. We’ll be back, hopefully many times!

Jarrod was a great host and welcomed us within minutes of our arrival. He also provided insights on local places to visit. The property was as described with electricity and water. The shade from the big tree was a great lifesaver when it got quite hot. Unfortunately there was a wedding one evening over the long weekend when we stayed. The music from the after party went on till 4:30 in the morning and our infant was unable to sleep all night. Would've been good to get a heads-up about the wedding before our arrival.

Fabulous, private campsite run by lovely hosts. We were a group of 6 with a small camper van and a camping trailer - enough flat space for both vehicles (required levelling). Lovely shady area amongst the gum trees, with the convenience of a very tidy camping hut which includes table and chairs. We will definitely be back.

Clean, rural spot to park whilst we explored the region & had a chill day. A bit of road noise but not significant. Hosts were great & checked in. A few farm animals are close up for your kids. Trees nearby to provide late afternoon shade but not directly above. Might need your leveling blocks.

This is a wonderful camp site with beautiful views and mod-cons! Nice big area to set up our tent on, separate from the area next to the hut where the fire pit and cabin are located, means that you can sleep a little ways away from the fire. Susan and Chris have set up a new compost toilet for guests to use in this area also which is amazing! The place is so clean, convenient and beautiful. We sat next to the water and watched the birds and listened to the kookaburras. Love this hip-camp!

3 nights at Whispering Gums

We love staying at Sue's Whispering Gums. This was our second visit. The place is beautiful and peaceful. We enjoy watching the various water birds on the dam and the cattle in the next paddock. Sue is very friendly and communication it great. Sue gave us a dozen eggs and lots of home grown veggies. The tomatoes especially were very tasty. The hut is such a great bonus.

We had the best weekend at Whispering Gums, it is absolutely beautiful! So close to lovely towns like Neerim South and Noojee! The property itself is magical we loved having a fire by the damn and watching the sunset over the hills! Loved camping at The Grange. The site is small but as we had it to ourselves most of the weekend it was great. Lynda and Gavin were lovely and the sheep and cows curious. Some road noise as it is in a 100km zone but not an issue. Will be back a it is the perfect spot to relax and do nothing.

We loved our stay at Whispering Gums. Susan and Chris were very hospitable and accomodating hosts who were more than happy for the kids to pat the horse and explore their property. We had 3 pop top campers in our crew which fit easily and set up fine with levelling ramps. Toilet with a view was nice with rods and yabby nets in the shed on the dam. Gate could also be closed to the dam from the site if you were worried about young children near the water etc. Our stay was a private and quiet getaway with plenty of room for activities and also to just relax!

The house is about 100 meters away from the camping area, but there are about 1000 Oregon trees that are 50 years old, so you can't see each other well, so you can enjoy nature freely. 4WD is recommended for easy access. We recommend tents/swags. 4WD with Heavy trailer is still very hard to enter when it is wet. Guests will have access to a toilet throughout their stay. Our empty and unused dairy has space available out the front for up to 3, fully self contained vans (no tents) Located on the edge of the picturesque town of Buln Buln postcode 3821 (not Moe) take in views of rolling green hills and heritage listed oak trees while the gentle cattle and sheep graze nearby paddocks. We have access to power and river water on all three sites (not suitable for drinking) but no toilet so your vehicle must be fully self contained. One site is a drive through concrete slab, the other two are grassed sites. The grassed sites are next to each other and the slab site is on the opposite site of the driveway. There is a free public dump point available at Neerim South (a 10 minute drive north) 10 minutes drive to the larger township of Warragul. Firewood and eggs from our happy free range hens can be provided for an additional fee. Please only use the provided fire pits and no fires are allowed on total fire ban days. There is no access to the main house or paddocks unless accompanied by the property host. There is some traffic noise during the day but the nights are peaceful. Dogs are welcome but please ensure that they remain on leads at all times. Each site is limited to one vehicle and van or single campervan. Close to all local attractions - Port Albert, Port Welshpool long jetty, Woodside's beautiful 90 mile beach, Tarra Bulga National Parks, spectacular Agnes Falls and Wilson's Prom. Our camp sites have plenty of room we don't believe in cramming too many campers on the same site, you have plenty of space. Suitable for large caravans, camper trailers, motor homes and RV's these can all can fit here easily. Sites 1 - 2 situated in a 4 acre paddock on the main farm. Perfect for small camper vans, roof top tents and motor homes. Site 3-5 situated on part of a 7 acre paddock with views of the hills and of the kangaroos that come onto the paddocks of a night out of the Alberton West State Forest. This site is perfect for larger vans, RV's, camper vans, roof top tents, motor homes. Campfires are permitted (When there are no fire bans). No loud music, bring a camping toilet with you and take all rubbish with you. You'll need to have your own amenities/be FULLY- self contained however if you don't have your own toilet, camp shower or fire pit you can hire them. We have an abundance of native birds on our property. Rosella's, Kookaburras, Wedge Tail Eagles and sometimes Galah's. Just down the paddock on dawn and dusk we have a mob of kangaroos that come out of the bush to graze.

Situated in West Gippsland, Casa Cucina is a feast for the senses from the alpine majesty of the Baw Baw Plateau, the Bunyip State Forest, the lush green valleys, to the rivers and streams… there is always something to do in West Gippsland for the curious. Further exploration in the area may include Gumbuya World, Nangara Reserve, Noojee and Neerim South. The Tarago River backs onto our small yet spacious, open yet shaded space we would welcome you to. The river is ‘swimmable’ (at your own risk), a lovely spot to cool off on our warm summer days, or a mesmerising place to sit, watch, read, contemplate, draw or write. It awakens the creative juices to be in such beauty in nature. Some large old Mountain Ash remain along the river bank, with lots of new plantings. It is not uncommon to see an echidna, a variety of stunning birdlife, and on dusk, maybe a wombat family. As we only take one booking at a time you will enjoy exclusive use of this peaceful space. A maximum of 4 vans on River block and 2 on adjoining paddock, in one group. Our river block can hold up to 4 caravans (under 10 metres) and a couple of tents in one group (one booking). In addition, the upper adjoining block can accommodate 2 caravans. This is a single group occupancy site so you can enjoy the privacy of your group. If you wish to hook into our powered site, please add $10 per night, per van. All campers will also have access to our Casa Cucina gorgeous eclectic, quirky community space to sit in out of the weather. Please note: This is not an accommodation space. Stockyard Paddock Camping

Stockyard Paddock is located at our property called "Tarrawonga", situated on the outskirts of Port Albert. Two minutes drive to the town centre and 10 minutes to nearby Yarram. Tarra Bulga National Park and the magnificent Wilson's Promontory are easy day trips for some of the best hiking in the state. We are a 16-acre hobby farm. We run about 30 sheep who are looked after by "James" the pet Alpaca. We also have a newly established seasonal wetland project in the making. Just sit back and enjoy the local Kangaroos and abundant birdlife. Campers have access to a level and grassed, four-acre cleared open dry paddock with a treed outlook. Access is good for caravans and other RVs. You need to be self-contained, with your own camp toilet. There is water and a dump point just two minutes drive up the road. No generators please. Port Albert is steeped in history and a visit to the maritime museum is absolutely worth the time. The Alberton Hotel provides a courtesy bus if you're after a counter meal and drinks. Tarra Bulga National park is close by and provides some magnificent walks. Wilson's Promontory is a great day trip. And of course, there is always the famous Port Albert Fish and Chip shop. Well-behaved dogs welcome on leash.
