Our property is located on the edge of Nundle and is within walking distance to the center of the village. The campsite is one open paddock off Barry road which runs from Nundle to Hanging Rock. It's a great secure base camp for exploring Nundle, Hanging Rock, and State Forest.
There is a Crown reserve with the semi permanent Happy Valley creek on the back boundary. For fit hikers, a steep walk via a crown reserve will take you up to the Hanging Rock State forest.
You will be camping in a large open paddock, not shared with any other campers, and you can park anywhere you like. This is not a secluded bush block, but an easy campsite in close proximity to everything Nundle has to offer. Campfires welcome and plenty of firewood available.
Sometimes you will be sharing the paddock with a small herd of friendly and curious speckle park cattle. The mommas currently have young calves. They come and go as they please on their grazing adventures across my whole property. Please let me know if you are worried about the cattle and I will move them.
P.S: the creek in not currently running, if you need water, ask. This private campsite is located just outside of the township of Nundle near a semi-permanent creek and is a great base for exploring Nundle area and Hanging Rock areas, as well as a State Forest.
The spacious area suits self-contained campers who bring their own camping toilet/shower, and drinking water supply. It is accessible by tar road and available to only one group of campers at the time. There is abundance of firewood and a choice of camping spots. Check before hand whether the creek is flowing or not if water is important.
For fit hikers, there is a steep walk via a crown land stock reserve that will take you up to the top and into the State forest.
The Hanging Rock lookout (8kms) offers a scenic vantage point with excellent views of the Nundle valley below. Sheba Dams in the Hanging Rock village (10kms) is a good spot for swimming and fishing, as well as a family outing with picnic and barbecue facilities in a bush setting abundant with trees, birds, lizards, wallabies and pademelons.
The State Forest is regarded as good fossicking country with gold, zircons, sapphires and other semi-precious stones to be found. Permit to fossick is required and can be obtained on the Service NSW website, Google "nsw state forest fossicking permit"
The village of Nundle is nearby for all your supplies.
For 2wd vehicles, the best camping area is straight ahead towards the group of trees and a green area with wood pile.
For 4wd vehicles, take your pick.
Let me know in advance if you are coming with dogs and you would like to let off leash as I might have to move cattle to another area.

This is our 2nd stay here and it is a nice spot and Alena is a very nice host. We generally stay at the very far end closest to the adjoining properties but it might be best to stay on the opposite end of the property because the neighbouring dogs continually bark throughout the night with takes away from the ambiance. Plenty of firewood which is an added bonus and Nundle is a nice little town.

Great spot with beautiful sunsets and close to town. Thoroughly recommend The Peel Inn for great food and atmosphere.

Unfortunately the site is only about 100mts from a very busy road with logging trucks going back and forth from 5am to 5pm delivering logs to the local mill 1.2klm from campsite and from which a constant noisy hum went from approx. 7.30 until it closed at 5pm. We were here midweek so I would assume that weekends would be a lot quieter. Other than that the site is easy to get to, however directions are not very good and we had to call host to guide us in.

Nice private spot all to self. Alena was very welcoming and we enjoyed learning about the history of the property. The best thing of all was there was plenty of fallen timber that Alena was happy for us to use for firewood which we really appreciated as it was cold. It is a spot with houses around and it is adjoining the road so would suit those who don’t like being really isolated. Normally we prefer more isolated spots but the road didn’t bother us and it’s a pretty relaxing spot with beautiful cows paying us a visit from time to time. Trout farm/cafe nearby is worth the visit. The local pub serves great food - try the beef burger it’s the best and, Machina Coffee serves great coffee and lovely warm cinnamon donuts that were just perfect on a cold morning.

Great little camping spot and beautiful scenery. A relief to have plenty of firewood available also for campfire and cooking.
Loved also being a stone throw from Nundle town and the pub, and the scenic Hanging Rock. Thanks Alena.

Good for a large group of friends or family with good access for standard vehicles in all weather.
A but close to the road for me but I like remote locations
