Nomadic camping
Best for self-contained campers. There are no toilets, showers, or potable water at this Hipcamp.
Huckaway is a little camping oasis just off the Tasman Highway. Green pastures are bordered by forestry land to the East and a river to the South. Go for a bush walk through the forest, a swim or fish in the river, you might even find a trout! This property is the perfect location if you are here to enjoy either the Derby trails or the St Helens trails with some of the shuttles going straight past the front gate! St Helens is a 15-minute drive away and The Bay of Fires is 30 mins. The wide camping area has plenty of open flat space to park any type of caravan or van. Park down near the river, or tuck yourself in beside the forest, up to you. All campers need to be self-contained, with their own camp toilet, and we kindly request you take all your waste with you. There is a dump station in St Helens. Well-behaved pets are welcome also! Please be mindful that dogs do not chase the neighbours cows and please pick up after them.Huckaway is a little camping oasis just off the Tasman Highway. This campsite offers a peaceful and secluded experience, perfect for families looking to explore the tranquil surroundings. With ample space to spread out, campers can enjoy the sound of a nearby creek and the occasional visit from friendly farm animals. However, some guests noted that the grass can be quite high, which could pose a concern for those wary of snakes and makes access to the creek tricky. Despite this, the location is praised for its natural beauty and convenience to nearby attractions, making it a popular choice for returning visitors.

I nice quiet hideaway.

The location is good, only 18 k's from St Helens, so was a good base for day trips. The camp spot itself was very private and quiet, which suits us. The creek was good for a dip on a hot day. Camp fires are also allowed, so it is a good spot to do some old fashioned camping, and big enough for large groups. We'll be back.

Easy to follow directions to the property. At least 3 campsite options beside a running fresh water creek. It was a lovely bush property stay. Thank you.

Very quiet and secluded at a river. A few friendly calves came and visited us too. Would come again!

Peaceful camp site

Great quiet spot with a fantastic little creek that the kids played in. Easy access into St Helen’s and Bay of Fires area and the Pub on The Paddock and Pyengana Dairy. We used this as a base to check out the area before moving to the beach free camps.

Great spot and easy to find. One observation - would have been nicer if the grass was cut and there was easy to find access to the water. It was a tranquil spot.
