Camping by the Creek is located on the property of the Windsor Woods Hunting Plantation. History of the land includes: The Right Vanguard of General John Bell Hood's Confederate Army camped here on his way to the Battle of Franklin. There was a brutal murder in the 1890's creating the legend of John Morgan.
Great experience and John was a great host. Once we arrived, Campsite #6 was available so we upgraded to this spacious, beautiful spot. Grounds were well kept and impressed by the “no trace left behind” care that was evident. Certainly will make a return visit.
We really enjoyed our stay at creek site 6. It was located at the back of a field with a creek on one side and a wooded hill on the other. Great for a few days getting away from it all. We were greeted and escorted to our spot by an employee then the host came by to say hi a little while later. My little boy (age 4) loved playing around the creek and overall we all had a great time. The only down side is that it rained A LOT our first day there and the site got pretty muddy but this would probably happen to almost any site. Also Verizon wireless doesn't work very well. Just be prepared with proper shoes if rain is in the forecast. We would definitely go back.
Beautiful sprawling meadows, a crystal clear creek, quite remote! There's so much land to explore and plenty of water and trees. John has a gorgeous place here and takes the extra time to make you feel welcome!
This was SUCH a beautiful space to get away from the world for a little bit. The campsite was private, the creek was beautiful and perfect for the hot days, and the field surrounding the campsites was the perfect spot for stargazing. Truly, it's a magical place. Our host, John, was incredibly kind and helpful. He came down to the campsite and checked on us every day, offering to help us build a fire if we needed it. We will definitely be returning to this little getaway!
This camp site is superb. One of my favorites. Easy to find. Pull in the driveway and continue straight across the meadow. You will find it hidden behind a few tree limbs. Very private and natural.
