Camping with young kids

Camp ground was very convenient for our family of 5. Kids range from 7-5 and they had a blast. The loved the swing tree, donkey, longhorns, and building a camp fire. The shower water was hot and the restroom was primitive, but clean and taken care of. Since this was our first time tent camping as a family I didn’t want to go far from home… we live in Drip and didn’t realize this place existed. We will absolutely be back in the future! Thank you!!

Perfect getaway from Austin
Tent · With kids ·
Awesome campsite just a few minutes outside of Austin and near all the major amenities when you need an overnight or two away from the hustle and bustle of city life. It's also right next to the Tesla superchargers for e-car campers who want to run the a/c or heat overnight and not worry. For tent campers, you can hear some traffic as it's not that remote in Dripping Springs but the ease of access and amenities is everything you need for a short excursion with family or friends. Check-in was a breeze, host was A+ communicative. Father and 5 yo son had a super fun time on the swings, watching the Longhorn, and playing frisbee. A+++

This place was amazing! Beautiful trees everywhere and a little lake. So quiet and peaceful and the shower and bathroom were adorable. They have put in so much work to this place. I will for sure be going back again this summer.

Jana was a gracious and communicative host, and we enjoyed our stay. We tent camped at Big Oak #10 for two nights, between Pedernales State Park and Hamilton Pool visits. The site was great, with a fire pit, picnic table, trees for our hammocks, and level, grassy spot to pitch our tent. Just a few things to share in full transparency. This is right off 290, with Austin sprawl encroaching, so you will hear the highway and see McMansions, storage facilities and other stuff from the property. If you camp at Big Oak, during the day there will be lots of noise from the paintball range next door. The outdoor shower is cold and refreshing (no hot water). While walking around, and especially playing disc golf, be ready to come in contact with cow and donkey pies. Make sure to check the Hays County burn ban in advance. We didn't come prepared with propane, so our food and firewood went to waste. If you need a place to camp in Dripping Springs, Longhorn Getaway is a great option.

We absolutely loved our (second) camping experience at Jana’s campground. It’s welcoming, well-maintained, and so much fun for us and the kids. Easy access to everything Austin and Dripping Springs have to recommend. We can’t wait to be back and highly recommend!
