Tiny Castle is a custom built tiny house that overlooks farmland, bushland and the glorious Stzelecki Ranges including Mount Worth. With a large covered deck connected to the front of the tiny house, you don't have to go anywhere to witness Wedge-tailed Eagles, Black Cockatoos, King Parrots, Rosellas and Kookaburra to name a few. Or wombats scurrying into their warren in the embankment just below the tiny house. Or the wallabies that hang out in the front paddock. If you're a fit walker, you can hike up to the back of the property that borders an old pine plantation now full of regrowth where herds of deer call it home. At the right time of day, you're likely to see all kinds of water fowl in the damns around the property. And if you're lucky, our 3 alpaca will let you photograph them as they stare you down, but no cuddles for these guys -- they're there to keep the foxes away. Night time is magical. With no light pollution, it's a stargazers paradise and on a still evening you'll hear boobooks, possums and frogs. The popular tourist village of Yarragon is 16km down a winding unsealed road one way, while the larger town of Mirboo North is about the same distance going the other way. Mount Worth State Park is 13km from our property and Lyrebird Forest Walk Regional Park is 26km just outside Mirboo North. While there's a lot to do around these parts, my guess is you won't want to leave the property.Be on top of the world at Tiny Castle, a miniature version of a contemporary 2-bedroom country house that overlooks a magnificent valley of paddocks, plantations and primary bush with the Strzelecki ranges as a spectacular backdrop. Electric heat and hot water means you can enjoy the Gippsland serenity all year round. Guests are close enough to the main house to feel secure and looked after while still enjoying complete privacy with their own entrance and parking area and a stand of mature trees between the two properties. There's a set of steps directly in front of the tiny house for the use of guests so they can access the old farm track below which allows them to explore the rest of the 100 acres. It's hilly and the track can be muddy so you'll want to bring appropriate footwear but the hour or so hike to the top of "Maria's Hill" is well worth the effort. You will definitely get a work out! There's a small creek on the property and several damns so if you're a twitcher you will love this place. Spring brings wildflowers as well as exotics planted by the original owners who farmed this place and Autumn brings a myriad of fungi which Susan, your host, is wholly obsessed with photographing.
What to expect
Tiny home
You'll have this Hipcamp all to yourself.
4 guests max
Toilet available
Composting toilet
Pets allowed
On leash. We love dogs and have two Kelpies of our own. While we welcome your fur family, we do ask that you keep them on a lead at all times because we do have lots of native wildlife that we'd like to keep unharmed.
No campfires
At the moment we have a wood brazier which can be used in front of the deck. We'll supply a reasonable amount of firewood and kindling for no cost. If you'd like more, you can buy a box for $15.
Potable water available
Tap. The entire property is on rainwater so we ask that guests moderate their water use, especially during the dry summer season
Showers available
Hot water
Bins available
Compost bin, recycling bin, trash bin
Cooking equipment present
Grill over firepit, bbq, private, stovetop or hot plate, fridge, freezer, cookware, cooking utensils, dishware, cutlery, basic seasoning and oils, sink or other dishwashing station. We also have a microwave in the tiny house kitchen
Picnic table present
You have access to a private deck attached to the tiny house which has a large table and chairs as well as a large bench you can lie on.
No wifi
Our hope is that you switch off while up here! You might be able to pick up a signal on Telstra and use your phone as a hotspot, but connectivity is intermittent up here at the best of time as it is in most of regional Australia. We have Starlink at the main house for emergencies.
Laundry absent
Hot Tub absent
Not yet but watch this space...
No playground
We don't have swings or monkey bars but we do have the best kind of playground for older kids and that is farmland and bush. The property is really not suitable for children under 5 years as they would have to be monitored carefully at all times to avoid injury or an encounter with wildlife.

Absolutely beautiful, just perfect. Lovely host who introduced herself and then left us alone, we felt like we were on another planet. Immaculately presented and thoughtfully prepared home, wonderful natural land and stars, so comfy, just perfect. 10/10

Our time a Tynecastle Tiny House was a fantastic experience, and was enjoyed by myself, partner and dog! Susan's property is picturesque with rolling hills, lush greenery and the ability to walk all over (including to their cow paddocks) which was great for us and the dog. The tiny house itself is small but utilises the space really well, and the amenities are fantastic, and first time using a compost toilet which is great for how eco-friendly the whole tiny house is. Overall the Tiny House at Tynecastle Park was a wonderful experience for a good price, and Susan was a very engaging and lovely host. Would recommend for anyone who wants to get away from city/suburb living, appreciate a gorgeous view from their front decking, and walk around vast beautiful and natural landscapes.

Great spot
Great escape location in Gippsland. Susan was a wonderful and extremely thoughtful and thorough host. My partner and I stayed one night, and had a great time. Due to the heat there was a small issue with the composting toilet, but Susan fixed it straight away. The views are amazing, and the site is set on top of a ridge line so you can see everything. Our little doggies had a great time too! Food and things to do and see all located conveniently within 30 mins drive. Will defiantly be back for another visit.

We had such a fantastic time!!! A beautiful spot nestled in nature. The soundtrack of the farm was so peaceful. Susan was such a kind soul and went far above and beyond with her hospitality! We stayed two nights and I’d recommend even longer :D

We'll definitely be back!!

My husband and I had THE most relaxing stay at Susan's tiny house. We sat on the patio, bird watched, went for a walk on their beautiful property, and enjoyed ourselves in this peaceful place. We spoke with Susan and her husband a couple of times, and their warm hospitality is unmatched. We will absolutely be back!! It gets a little warm on hot days as the bed is upstairs, but windows and fans provided help a lot!
