Apgar Campground puts you right in the thick of Glacier National Park, with amenities that will make you feel right at home!

Restrooms, water, and close access to the visitors center and restaurants are the no brainers. There are sites for groups, RVs, and tent lovers. The real fun is evening ranger programs at the amphitheatre, sunsets strolls to Lake McDonald and trailheads, and shuttles with quick access to the rest of the park. Post up your hammock at these shady sites, invite the neighbors over for some s’mores and crack open a brew, you new zipcode is F-U-N!

We camped here in early October. We had our pick of campsites when we arrived around 6pm, but this was likely because there had been a snow storm the day before that closed much of the park, including Going to the Sun Road. It still became decently full of other RV/van campers by the end of the evening, even with the colder temps. Campground is wooded, so it feels hidden from the road, although you do still hear some thru traffic. All campsites were clean. Each has picnic table and fire ring. Location is great, right across the road from Lake McDonald which is beautiful at sunrise and sunset.

Before you go, you should know that there's a beautiful lake nearby for a post-dinner/pre-s'mores swim!

We loved camping here. You definitely get some road noise, but it fades in the evening time. Our site had a clearing where we could sit in the morning with our coffee and enjoy the amazing view. We camped at the end of August and were the first ones there on a Saturday - all the spots were claimed by about 7:30 am I think.

You must arrive early to get a first-come first-served site, the A loop is the way to go since you are the closest to Lake McDonald.
