4 nights at Tiny Secrets Farm & Retreat

What a beautiful spot! The cabin was cozy for my family of 4 and a dog but was a great “in between” camping and an Airbnb. So many thoughtful touches the kitchen really has everything you need. The facilities were clean and shower water hot! We hiked every day with the Smugglers Cove a big hit. Truly a magically little area of BC. We will be back!

We stayed in the renovated school bus for the weekend. The whole property is like a magical little get away and the bus was comfy and cozy during the rain :) The owners were friendly and the dogs and chickens kept us entertained. Come for a weekend to enjoy some of great hikes in the area or just take the time to rest in this little paradise- you won’t regret it!

We stayed in the A-frame micro-cabin for 5 days. We are already dreaming of our next visit! Despite getting the "atmospheric river" vacation treatment, it had virtually all the amenities you could ask for in for a rainy day of off-grid living. It was beautiful and felt quiet (minus all the chorus frogs at night :D) and luxurious. The hosts were responsive and friendly, we even got some doggo time as they let their dogs roam near the chicken coop. Couldn't ask for a better "glamp" experience!

I loved our stay on this magical school bus! Karen and Tito had the bus cleaned and ready before we’ve arrived. They provided us with clear instructions and a guide for our stay. Although I did not get a chance to meet them, they were extremely communicative through text to ensure we arrived safely. This is one of the coolest experiences I’ve ever had. I also had the best sleep of my life! I would recommend this to everyone that is looking for a glamping experience.

The bus is adorable and cozy! There were some issues, apparently caused by some recent inclement weather, but the hosts are incredibly sweet and were very responsive to fix things as they came up. The "magic sack" was an especially nice touch to help unwind, and that bed is insanely comfortable! Many thanks to Karen, Kito, and Amos.

We’ve stayed at Evonne & Darrell’s on a couple of occasions now and enjoyed our experience both times. They are wonderful and thoughtful hosts and their property is very beautiful and well maintained thanks to their hard work and dedication. The first time we camped and the second time we stayed in the little cabin. We loved both experiences and hope to come back again in the future.

I cannot express enough how special my stay at Karen and Kito's Tiny Secrets Farm & Retreat was. The Cabin's are unique and very well designed for comfort, fun features and a joy to stay in with windows all around for viewing the forest. The Micro cabin was a cozy, healing space for me with environmentally respectful features such as rainwater collection for the sink and water filter, compost for food scraps and compost outhouse. The layout of the farm's cabins and tent sites is sensitive to the natural layout of the land and creative touches are everywhere. I am definitely coming back again for a beautiful and restful stay. I loved the Schoolie. We stayed there for two nights but would have been happier with much longer. It was cozy, warm (even in December), and had everything we needed - from kitchen supplies to wifi. The hosts were gracious, generous and responsive. And the sunset wasn't bad either. It was a beautiful escape and I'll treasure the memories. Would certainly recommend. Thank you :)

1 night at theDoighouse Earthship

I had a lovely time at theDoighouse Earthship in the Maple Cabin! I was only there for one night, however, it was a really fun experience! They have put so much work & love into creating such a unique off-grid property. I was throughly impressed by everything they had! The Maple Cabin is cozy & inviting. It's the perfect size for 1-2 people! The bed is very comfortable & had very warm bedding (which was very welcomed as it was quite chilly the night I stayed!) Susan provided a quilt that her mother had made, which I thought was such a lovely touch. I hope to come back at some point in the future and spend a bit more time here!

Living Waters Woodland Farm

In a cedar grove, nestled among the ferns, a lotus belle tent awaits you. A unique bed and breakfast in an off-grid tent. Inside the belle tent there is a comfortable double bed with clean sheets, plump pillows, and a warm Pendelton blanket. A 'west coast homestead basket' with granola, fruit ,and farm eggs is provided for a nutritious breakfast. A Berkey water filter provides delicious water from our mountain well. Inside the tent, a comfortable chair looks out over the mossy forest toward the creek. There is room to stretch, and a couple of yoga mats to use. A stretch is especially nice after exploring the nearby trails through Mount Maxwell forest. The trails take through a varied and fascinating forest. Along the way are mossy knolls with vistas of the valley, ocean, and Vancouver Island. One trail leads all the way to Burgyone Bay. The belle is an off-grid seasonal tent with electric candles for lighting and a composting toilet. At night there are solar string lights--should you want them--which illuminate the path to the tent. On clear nights, turn the lights off to star-gaze through the branches.

Bright stars and open field where you can tuck into the treed edge next to the deers! The moonlight can be as bright as daytime and the stars are quite a sight. The RV sites are for RV's that are self-sufficient without the need for electricity nor water in or out (no dumping and there is no running water nor an outhouse at RV sites). RV's will be parking on grass and the site requires levelling. We can accommodate vehicles up to 39ft in length. Have your choice of bringing your own tent or using ours! New Glamping Dome Tents with Queen Sized Beds, table and chairs and hammocks including a covered counter for cooking . Unplug and Unwind to the sound of breeze through the trees and romantically flowing water from the nearby creek. There is no cell service or electromagnetic disruption here which makes for a beautiful peaceful mountain retreat. Bring your telescope for the opportunity to see clear, off the grid skies and epic star viewing for the astronomer in you. The bookings are quite private and there is a lot of space between sites. If one of the Dome tents is booked, I block off the other so you'll be the only ones on the whole gravel pad area. There are trees and visual space blocking anyones' view between sites Birkenhead Lake Provincial Park is walkable from our farm and there you can hike, fish, swim, paddle, and more! The road is a gravel road in winter would require 4x4. Otherwise we've seen many EVO cars (Prius Hybrid or fully electric Kia Niro) and even fancy Teslas and BMW sedan's on this road.

This property was purchased nearly half a century ago. For the majority of this time the forest section you will be camping in was left undeveloped, apart from a few mountain bike trails. Recently, as a family, we have seen a large increase in the people traveling to the Sunshine Coast to escape the city limits. Unable to rock up to a campsite and pick our spot like we used to, it was easy to see a growing demand. We have taken everything we love about camping and done our best to give you a sense of what life on the Coast is really about. Please note: By entering onto the property you release all liabilities towards us as hosts. You are choosing to camp in a forested area that contains many hazards as well as potential threats. These include but are not limited to; Wild life (bears, bob cats, cougars etc), Fire is a serious threat to this region during summer months strict no smoking policy is in effect. Care should be taken walking around uneven surfaces. All campers are required to stay within camp boundaries fail to follow these protocols will result in being asked to leave.
