Weekend Trip to Ripped Hippies Camping Experience

Really liked this place, very peaceful, owners Linda and Darren were amazing, super friendly and helpful. This is a new camp site, so there's still work to be done, but if it all goes to plan this place will be exceptional! Cell phone coverage is excellent here, something missing at other sites for sure. Also, they roast their own coffee and it tastes wonderful!! Custom made to order too! The owners welcome any feedback at all, and are clearly striving to make this place perfect, personally I just want the coffee roasting hut finished!! Only downside is the road in, not much fun! However, the owners have no control over that, and now winter is almost over, hopefully that gets fixed.

The Brook at The Bend

The forest & ocean, ruled by the moon and the seasons - time does not exist here, as we know it, in our normal day-to-day. You set the pace here. With the intention of having all your senses awakened while falling in sync with the pulse of the nature around you, minimalist luxury is the caveat. You will have the best of everything you need, and nothing of what you do not. We designed the dome to be a hemisphere that offers an opportunity to experience all four elements - earth, wind, fire and water - within the sacred geometry of the its' structure. Loading the wood burning fireplace while the vintage claw foot tub fills with hot water may become your ritual. Whilst the wind moves through the trees, and the waves reach the shore, becomes your meditation. The ocean is only a short walk down a winding forest path, and is often best enjoyed with a hot coffee or loose leaf tea. Every item, from the organic Egyptian cotton and Flax linen bedding on the king size bed, to the organic wild harvested body/bath products and local fresh roasted coffee, has been intentionally chosen for their love of people and planet. Transparency is everything.

Our path network is maintained for access to the very satisfying “Upper Lookout”. This path continues and you might just find your hosts working on this area. There are also various mountain access roads provide terrific hiking and mountain biking opportunities. Photography, rock hounding, mushroom hunting and star gazing are ideal activities. Birders in particular should be pleased. The property has been in our family for generations and an old sled path winds through and up it. We are also developing a spring-fed swimming pond this summer. Currently, we have new fields of sunflowers and wildflowers to attract pollinators—bumble bees, hummingbirds and monarch butterflies are especially abundant here. Wild apple trees abound and there is a stand of old maple trees we will be tapping next spring. Beyond that is a mature Beech and Poplar forest. We are within walking distance to Victoria Beach, an authentic fishing village nestled at the base of the north mountain and surrounded by the Annapolis Basin, the Digby Gut and the Bay of Fundy. This was one of the original homesteads in the Margarees. There was an old sawmill on site which was used to build the house and barn. It was sold to a man who started renovations for a summer house but ended up listing it for sale. I purchased it and completely renovated the 100-year-old house. Shortly after, my brother and I started an outfitting company with no plan of building a campground, but in 2017 we saw a great opportunity for building something unique. We wanted to keep a backwoods camping feel, but yet create it around a hostel-inspired environment. We launched June 1, 2018 and are in full swing now. Adventure awaits at this eco-camping hostel offering a natural setting, overlooking a picturesque valley.
