Originally the property was 400 acres and dotted with the logger's homesteads, the Herron brother's barns, mills and a local school. Property was sold off over the years and the mill operations slowed down. After the mill stopped operating 70 years ago, there was only one person left to maintain the remaining 100 acres, and she was Mary Storie. The loggers homes, the barns and the mills fell over the years. Mary lived in the basement of the big yellow house on the hill up until 2005.
