The drive to this property is beautiful. The property is beautiful too with some many unique touches. Very private and quiet. We would love to stay again one day!

I loved the views. It was so quiet. There are horse shoes, bathrooms and a lighted central meeting area that can be used for a party. We plan to come back with our RV group. It will be fun.

Thankful for Gooseberry Getaway
7 m travel trailer
This is a wonderful family place nestled in the canyons outside Caliente. The winding road is a bit narrow in places and the roaming cattle can cause a little traffic - but the views are worth driving slow for. Ours is a 23’ travel trailer and it felt alright though tight on the roads. J was a welcoming host and very helpful navigating our trailer to a pretty level spot. Campers with tall vehicles do need to be cautious of low tree limbs. There is plenty of room for a few campers and tents to spread out if you are planning a group getaway. The fire pit, bocce court and historic charm of a ranch hands gathering lot make this place loads of fun. The nights are very dark and quiet. Unfortunately, we didn’t have clear night skies for our Thanksgiving trip stay - but we plan to return for the stars at some point.

Awesome place to camp with friends
Tent · Group trip
Gooseberry Getaway is the perfect getaway spot to camp with family and friends. Had such an amazing experience with the spot, really nice scenery and our campsite was surrounded with big trees that keeps the site nice and cool, clean bathroom and accessible water were a plus for this spot. James and his wife were such great hosts. Would definitely camp here again and I would highly recommend it to anyone.

What a sweet spot!
13 m Class C
This is a sweet, restful, secure place to park your RV or tent camp under the shady oak trees. It's a family place, not a party goer place. Easy to find. It is quiet and dark with a lovely sunrise. Water, power and internet worked well; that's important because cell is non existent in this whole area. Get your directions before you get off Hwy 58. Being there in early September we expected it to be hot, and it was just a bit cooler than the surrounding desert area and has a gentle breeze at night. Its a safe, cooler alternative to boondocking in the desert. Less wind! We did not need our AC to sleep or cool down the RV from the day. Our large dogs were very happy here, we kept them on a line because there is a pasture of cattle right next door. J was very helpful and organized. We will return. The only thing to beware of is if you have a very large RV like ours, you better be prepared for a 30% grade and narrow winding road going in. 5 mph, 1st gear in some places. Be an excellent driver and have good brakes if you have a big rig. Good thing is there are nice swimming holes to be found on the road in! We loved J's land!
