We loved tent camping at Chad’s site! It was big, private and clean. There was so much to do with the lazy river and hiking trails just across the road. It was near a main road so you could hear cars a lot but that didn’t bother us. Chad was friendly and helpful providing the clean toilet and firewood. We had an amazing time!!

Top Notch Spot!
4 m campervan · Group trip
Chad & Stephanie were great hosts. Very friendly and happy to help with anything we may have needed.. Private spot, clean port-o-let with hand washing station. Convenient garbage & recycling bins. Firewood was dry and included for campfires which was awesome. Great spot to experience a relaxing float down a natural lazy river! Gorgeous dark sky ideal for star gazing. 5 minute drive from the hamlet of Buckhorn with all conveniences from Foodland to LCBO, restaurants and shops. Pink granite site with mature pines and great fire pit. Hwy 23 traffic can be heard from the site but quiets down late afternoon. We enjoyed the quiet evenings to sit back and relax and take it all in. Will definitely visit again! The Mississauga River float is a Gem. Be sure to bring your tube/floaties to add to this great spot/experience!

Great campsite location & host!!
Tent · With kids
Chad was a great Host! Had a clean outhouse and site, lots of firewood. There was a burn ban in effect and he provided a cook stove. Also provided us with 2 tubes for the river float. Excellent location. Close to the Kawartha country winery, Buckhorn town and walking distance to the river float. The highway is close so if you have a hard time sleeping with traffic noise be aware.

The campsite was lovely! There was a lot of firewood to use, and lots of room to set up a run for our pup. The Johnny on the Spot was unexpected but welcome lol Everything was clean and Chad checked in with us as soon as he was on the property. He messaged beforehand to tell us to make ourselves at home in the meantime. He was very friendly and told us to let him know if we needed absolutely anything, otherwise he would give us our privacy. Overall this was a lovely trip and we will definitely consider it again next year! 😊

We had a lovely time staying with Chad in Buckhorn. The fire pit was well situated on a large granite area, there were fireflies at dusk and the camp is right by the highway, making it easy to come and go and enjoy exploring the area. Chad and his partner were extremely helpful, even rescuing us when we bottomed out on a rock in our tiny Yaris. Thank you for everything!
