Once a dairy farm for over 200 years, we acquired the property 18 years ago and immediately started on the task of reverting the property back to it's pre dairy farm state. Working with the Forestry department and other agencies, we have reforested over 30 acres with over 6,000 trees. We have also created a wildlife habitat ( Wildlife corridor) which has succeeded in bringing back species of birds that have long been gone from the valley. Additionally, the pond in the back of the property was dying, now it is thriving! No logging on this property since 1964 and we plan to keep it that way. Just today, there were a bunch of wild turkeys in the front field which is now encircled with chinquapins. We are happy to announce that starting in the Fall, we begin the process of converting the final 9 acres of hay into wild flower fields. This has been in the works for years and we are so excited that it is finally happening! Learn more about this land: Allen has carved out some beautiful sites for you to choose from with awesome views of the western Virginia mountains. Looking for privacy? You've got it here. You get away for privacy, not crowds. Choose  your own special piece of paradise. The property has multiple fields, the side of a forest covered mountain, and sites along the creek. We back up to Jefferson National Forest. This property is really more for the tent camper that does not need a lot of amenities. If you have a small RV ( like a tear drop) or vehicle you can sleep in, we do have flat fields that can accommodate you. Note, there is no water or electrical hookup. We have a nice pond in the back of the property located just before the mountain starts. We are more than happy to hike up the "hill" with you and show you some tent sites with spectacular views. Loose dogs on property.

The property has great views, I'll give them that. However, when I arrived, Allen was not there to meet me. Waited by the house for a few minutes before continuing on. I was confused as to what was deemed a "camp site" as I couldn't find an area mowed and with some semblance of a fire ring. Allen showed up 20 minutes after my arrival, walking out of the woods with a chainsaw and 3 loose dogs. The male dog went after one of my dogs aggressively to the point that I had to shove him with my foot and pick her up to put her in the car. Honestly, very scary for a minute. He wasnt very specific on where the sites were so I set up in a wet, grassy patch and barely set up camp. He brought fire wood, which was really parts of a tree (branches, leaves and all) then proceeded to try to start my fire for me? Arrived again in the morning to check on me. As a solo female camper, I did not like this experience at all. I'm camping at a remote and private location to evade other humans. I left early in the morning and abandoned my second night on this property to camp at a nearby state park.

Very secluded field with gorgeous views of the mountains. The drive is a bit out there but it's totally worth it to get away from all the light pollution! On a clear night, you can see all the stars. We heard several types of owls and coyotes through the night so if you wanna feel close to nature, this is the spot for you!

Beautiful, remote land with a spectacular view of the mountains. Our hosts were phenomenal- Allen made sure we were well taken care of and the property was gorgeous. It's basically a bird's paradise - I've never seen so many before. Big bonus-the sweet dogs that watch over the place. I'd visit again in a heartbeat.

12 ft travel trailer
My husband and I spent a most wonderful day and evening at this beautiful farm. There are a great variety of trees planted though out which allow for viewing many types of birds. The large pond is a great spot to spend some time. It was so nice to sit back and enjoy the stunning views of the Virginia mountains. We enjoyed some great conversations with Allen who was an amazing host. We would highly recommend that you spend some time at this special place.
