Weekend Trip to Weston Caravan and Campsite

First time booking through Hipcamp and Hana was super helpful and friendly, she also gave us loads of info beforehand which was great. The campsite was quiet, super clean and was a great location. The Milk Shed cafe was AMAZING! Overall, really happy with our stay, we had a lovely relaxing weekend despite the chilly weather!

Weekend Trip to Cattlestone Farm Adult Only

The farm was very easy to get to, and Donna and her husband were extremely communicative and welcoming. The cabin itself was an utter delight and more than I would've expected, both in terms of amenities available, and the quality therein. Very easy to both cook on site and enjoy the farm itself, and to head out into the countryside. Plus the cows were such a special treat to see!

Really wonderful place; you’ll be tucked away in nature to quietly enjoy it. Welcoming owner, full of hilarious anecdotes. To boot, there is delicious coffee (rivals artisan London spots) and homemade food to enjoy at the cafe in the morning. There’s a real community feel. We will definitely be back.

We had a lovely time staying here. The shepherd's hut was attractive, cosy and well equipped. Because we stayed at the end of October we unfortunately didn't make use of all the outside seating, which would be lovely in summer. So once it gets dark, it is very quiet and isolated, so just be prepared to cosy up inside with books etc. In the daytimes we liked exploring the local villages and some amazing pubs on our bikes.

We have a shared under cover space and also an outdoor fire-pit to gather more than 20 people comfortably. There is a simple compost loo for your use with hand-washing and dish washing area outside. And the rest is all Mother nature! There is no running water or drinking water. You will need to bring your own. No electricity points or WIFI are in the campsite and no masts nearby so enjoy the EMF cleanse. Whether you chose to stay in the ancient woodland or the herbal pasture, you will feel the benefits of reconnecting with yourself in nature, breathing the clean air and hearing the birds singing. The parking is 800m away and there is minimal tractor use so you can imagine yourself roaming the fields and forest of England in days gone by. Fitness required. A wealth of little shops, cafes and pubs as well as the country’s oldest family owned brewery Shepherd Neame. Whitstable sitting just along the coast, famed for its Oysters and Sunsets is a fun beachside community bustling in the summer months and hauntingly bleak in the winter ones. The World Heritage sites of Canterbury are just a fifteen minute trip away with all its well documented history and plentiful shops and eateries.

A small family run site in Weston-on-the Green village located with a local pub 5 minutes walk away and on site cafe. The site also has newly refurbished toilet and shower facilities. Amazing location to access Oxford city and easy access to M40 (Junction 9). Good things await for those who grab a berth at Weston Caravan and Campsite, in the Oxfordshire village of Weston-on-the-Green. For starters, space seekers should be pleased to see that there’s plenty of breathing room around this former dairy farm – excellent news for kids or dogs that need a bit of haring-about time after being cooped up in the car. Depending on where you’ve plonked down you may find that your nearest neighbours are the resident beef cattle, sheep or horses; it’s worth keeping your eyes open for sightings of the hedgehogs that often scuttle about the place too. Perhaps most crucially for those whose stomachs dictate a site’s success is the presence of a café that serves up a tempting range of freshly cooked goodies: breakfasts (no rush – they’re served all day), salads, cakes and coffees, plus cheeses, pies and the like to take away. And the crème de la crème – literally: homemade ice cream in up to 16 (yes, a lipsmacking 16) different flavours. Evening appetites can be sated with a barbecue out on the field, or trotting off to the local pub five minutes’ walk away. The site added a new toilet and shower block in 2018. And how to get to this little slice of rural loveliness? The village is just a few minutes’ drive from the A34 and Junction 9 of the M40, making it both a useful stopover on cross-country voyages and a handy spot for Oxfordshire breaks (perhaps taking in Oxford, Blenheim Palace or bagging bargains in Bicester).

We look forward to welcome you to our little slice of paradise. Wet weather and winter – please note in the off-season, and if very wet, the camping field is closed to vehicles, replaced instead by semi-hardstanding areas or our summer car-park area. Facilities are open but please be prepared for the vagaries of the weather, leaves, puddles and mud. To change pitch please let us know asap so that we can try if possible to find you another. Apart from the car-park, pitches can get very muddy in prolonged, heavy rain. If you are not prepared for these eventualities please do not book.

Overview

Whether you want to glamp in a cabin fit for a king or get back to basics on a working farm, there are plenty of options for Hipcampers visiting Windsor. Close by you'll find country parks and riverside camping, plus plenty of opportunities for courtly procession along the Thames Path. Head out a little further to find plenty more rambling routes and cycling trails, in two of southern England’s most scenic outdoor attractions.

Where to go

Windsor and Maidenhead

With parks, moors, and the River Thames right on the doorstep of Royal Windsor, there's no need to travel far to get a glimpse of the great British outdoors. Mobile and caravan parks line the river's banks, while family-friendly sites such as Hurley Riverside Park offer easy access to the home counties as well as the Thames Path National Trail.

Reading

Also on the Thames Path, this historic market town is best known for its annual music festival, though its abundant farmland is home to many privately run campsites that draw visitors year-round. Campgrounds and holiday parks serve as outdoor oases in the city's vicinity, many known for kid-friendly pitches. Reading can be reached from Windsor in half an hour by road or train.

Chiltern Hills AONB

Active adventurers are sure to love the hills, fields, and woodlands that make up this Area of Natural Beauty, with a range of rambling and riding routes to choose from. There's even an annual walking festival! Several working farms offer private camping, while the scenic spots of Ashridge Estate, Ivinghoe Beacon, or Radnage Valley make for stunning sights to wake up to. The gateway town of High Wycombe is about a 25-minute drive away, or 90 minutes on public transport via Slough.

South Downs National Park

Home to countless working farms and all manner of natural retreats, the expansive and diverse South Downs National Park is a camper's paradise, just 90 minutes south of Windsor by car. You can easily explore the region's chalk hills, wooded heaths, and villages by following the South Downs Way National Trail on foot, by bike, or on horseback.

When to go

Though summer tends to bring the best weather for any outdoor pursuit in England, the vibrant colours of autumn or dramatic frosts of winter certainly have their own charms. June, July, and August are often very busy around Windsor, especially during the Reading Festival and Royal Ascot weekends.

Public transport is generally camper-friendly, but if travelling with gear, it's wise to avoid peak times—especially if connecting in London.
Some rural campsites are quite remote, so it can be useful to have a vehicle.
