This is a cozy place with led lights & solar lights, candles, gas cook range, gas refrigerator, wood stove, a dug well with hand-pump in the kitchen (pump can not be used when the temperature is below freezing) and a log cabin outhouse. King bed in bedroom; twin bunk beds and queen pull-out futon couch in great room Fully outfitted with dishes, utensils, pots,/pans, linens/blankets/pillows, books, games, oil lanterns, camp/bag shower and more. Firewood is included in the rental price. Propane, paper towels, toilet paper and dish soap are also provided. All Wheel Drive or 4WD is needed to access the cabin in winter and mud season. WINTER CONDITIONS (when ground is frozen): -4-wheel drive or All Wheel Drive needed. -There is NO running water from the well pump when the ground is frozen. The sink can be used with a bucket underneath. Bring extra water for washing. -Really big storms can cause reservations to be rescheduled -Extreme Cold Weather: When temperatures fall to 15 degrees or below, use the propane heater in the bunk room with the woodstove in the great room. Feed the wood stove every couple of hours. Snowmobilers! You may have to unload your machines at the bottom of the hill to get your trucks up the hill with trailers hitched or leave trailers at the bottom of the hill in a plowed out parking area, ride the snowmobiles up separately. -Shooting/Target practice is NO longer allowed due to lack of respect for safety by several sets of guests. Off the grid = NO ELECTRICITY! There IS cell/data service Bring your own drinking waterGet away to a beautiful, off-the-grid, fully furnished log cabin on 10 acres. Located in a large wilderness region, minutes to Webb Lake, Tumbledown Mountain and Mt. Blue State Park. Great trails of all kinds right out the front door. In the middle of Maine’s finest snowmobiling, hiking, hunting, fishing, kayaking, ice fishing, boating and much more.  Fully amended for your comfort with linens, dishes, paper towels/toilet paper, dish soap, tea lights, fire wood and more . A perfect place for couples, families, and groups of friends to gather for adventure, romance or serenity. An escape from the electronic world. However if you want to remain connected the cell service is great. Check in is 2PM and check out is 11AM. This is a cozy place with led battery operated lights, solar lights, a gas cook range, a gas refrigerator, wood stove, spacious outhouse and a dug well with hand-pump in the kitchen (pump cannot be used when the temperature is below freezing). Everything is here: 1 set of twin bunk beds and 1 queen size futon couch in the great room and a king bed in the bunk room. Fully outfitted with dishes, utensils, pots, pans, bedding, books, games, toys, camp/bag shower and more. Fire wood is included in the rental price. Propane, paper towels, toilet paper and dish soap are also provided. All Wheel Drive or 4WD is needed to access the cabin. I have a Subaru Forester and have no problem getting up and down even in heavy snow. Off the grid = No electricity: bag shower, outhouse, gas appliances. Cell service is good. It is possible to stream movies etc off a mobile hotspot. There is a gas refrigerator, so you do not need to bring coolers to store your food. You MUST bring your own drinking water to be absolutely safe. The dug well is fed by springs and runoff. Dug wells can be contaminated by heavy rains, and wildlife. Drinking the well water is at your own risk. This is mosquito and tick country. Use bug spray and do tick checks twice a day. Dogs are welcome. Dogs left unattended and alone in the cabin are NOT allowed. Do not leave waste piles in the yard around the cabin; it may be thrown in the woods where people are not going to be walking. Cigarette smoking is not allowed in the cabin, but we are fine with renting to smokers who smoke ONLY outside. Cannabis smoking is allowed inside. Please make sure to properly extinguish smoking materials and do not clean pipes out in the sink. You may leave all of your food garbage and trash in the cabin at check-out and we will dispose of it for you. However, we request that food garbage or food scraps are NEVER left outside. Shooting and target practice is NOT allowed on the property. It used to be until that privilege was abused by several sets of guests shot at trees and killed them, and left hundreds of spent rounds on the ground. Please do not feed the bears or any other wildlife, including birds, squirrels, fox, deer, coyote or anything you may see here at Ridgeview Cabin. Feeding wildlife results in a negative impact on the lives and environment of the animals, including possible death or extermination of the animals, and presents a potential risk to your safety. Feeding animals means intentionally leaving food out for them, or even simply leaving a bag of garbage outside where animals can get into it. This means that taking care of your food garbage is extremely important. You are welcome to use the garbage bags found in the cabin. If you must remove food garbage from the cabin, please store it in the outhouse or your vehicle until check-out. There are year round residents uphill and downhill of the cabin within half a mile. Please be respectful of their quality of life and refrain from long sessions of target practice, aggressive snowmobile/4-wheeler riding around the cabin/up and down the road, yelling and loud music. WINTER SEASON RESTRICTIONS-Rates are discounted when the temperatures are below freezing because there is no running water. Winter Wash Water: you can use the sink in the winter draining into a bucket in the cabinet. Please dump wash water downhill from the cabin or in the outhouse. Cold Weather: When temperatures fall to zero degrees or below, we recommend that you use the monitor heater in the bedroom to help with general heating. During extreme cold (10 degrees or below) it will be necessary for you to feed the wood stove every few hours. Do not go without feeding the wood stove for more than 3-4 hours on a slow burn to maintain a comfortable temperature.

With kids
Cabin was absolutely cozy and it’s nice to go back when times are simple. A simple walk in nature with a child experiencing and teaching things that we learned as children was so meaningful for all of us and we anticipate returning for a longer stay. Aranka by far is the best hostess I have encountered. The farm fresh eggs were delicous. Can’t wait to return.

Winter Getaway
Super relaxing, the cabin had charm to it. If you need an escape from the noise of modern-day life but don't want to rough it this is it. The cabin stayed very warm on cold winter nights getting close to single digits. We plan on visiting again. Aranka was an incredible host!

cozy log cabin retreat
Lovely cabin! The log walls lend so much charm. The Jotul wood stove is easy to work with and burns very efficiently. We loved the motion-activated lighting that made it easy to move around (with few windows, the interior of the cabin is quite dark). Several solar- and battery-powered lamps located throughout create very nice ambiance, but if you need lots of light for focused tasks (like reading, assembling puzzles, and knitting) you might want to bring extra lanterns and headlamps. During our 2-night stay, some of the lamps burned out and we were glad to have headlamps to fill in. There's not a lot of room to roam around outside the cabin (we went for a walk in the woods but encountered No Trespassing signs before we'd wandered too far) but if you're ready to drive to activities, or to cozy inside for quiet cabin time as we did, this is a fantastic retreat.

Early November at Colby’s Cabin
One of the best Hipcamp experiences that I’ve had. Colby’s Cabin was clean and cozy. Aranka has thought of so many small things to make the stay comfortable for guests. Highly recommend.

Great vacation
With kids
I rented this cabin for a couple days to get away with family. We hadn't been on vacation in years. All four kids had a great time with campfire, s'mores, hiking. A very relaxing quiet calm place for family to forget the rest of the world for a bit. I couldn't have picked a better experience. My kids will remember it for years. I will be booking this cabin again next year. I think my wife and I have found the perfect camp get away. Aranka over backwards to make sure our stay was enjoyable. There were a couple things we forgot at home but the cabin had them. Thank you Aranka it was great. At the risk of this place getting too busy I will be talking about this place to everyone I know. So quiet off grid. Beautiful. Close to a beautiful lake.
