Best Hipcamp in Michigan Finalist Just 20 minutes from Kitch-iti-kipi, surf camp is the quintessential U.P. hideaway. Located on Lake Michigan’s Garden Peninsula, the east-facing beach is perfect for watching sunrises with your morning coffee. Enjoy evening campfires tucked in a cedar grove or take the kayak for a paddle to have an authentic Michigan experience. Perfect for writing or meditation retreats and family getaways. Conveniently located, it's a short drive to Kitch-iti-kipi (Big Spring), Fayette State Historic Park, and an easy day trip to Marquette or Pictured Rocks in Munising. The camper on site will be locked, but feel free to tent, car camp, or bring your own RV here as well. The site includes a self-contained privy. No electricity or water hookups make this a rustic experience.✨Best Hipcamp in Michigan Finalist Located on Wiggins point on Northern Lake Michigan’s Garden Peninsula, the east-facing beach is perfect for watching sunrises with your morning coffee. Surf Camp offers a serene and picturesque setting right on Lake Michigan, ideal for those looking to unwind. Many campers enjoyed setting up their tents directly on the beach, soaking in soothing lake sounds and starry nights. Eli, the host, is noted for his excellent communication and preparedness, providing amenities like a fire pit and even firewood. While most reviews praise the tranquility and beauty, a few mention the proximity to neighboring houses and the rustic nature of the facilities as minor drawbacks.

Peaceful and Scenic
Tent
We had a great time at Surf Camp. Eli had the wood stacked and ready for us to enjoy. We camped in late December and we had the place to ourselves. We really enjoyed setting up our tent on the beach on the sand. We definitely want to return and enjoy the beach during the warmer months. We will post our stay on YouTube at Get Livin Outdoors.

Pretty cool spot but a little spendy for off season and its proximity between two close house neighbors. provided firewood is a nice touch though.

Great spot!

Perfection (see pic). Really enjoyed our stay. Eli was in contact and GPS took us straight to the location. Took trips to "Big Spring" and Pictured Rocks, but the spot was great enough just to stick around and enjoy!

Rustic Camping Full of Beauty
Tent
Have to give props to the host for quickly seeing my inquiry and accepting our reservation! From the stunning stars of the night sky that never seemed to end, to the views of the sun peaking up from Lake Michigan in the morning, it was all absolutely beautiful! We had a little difficulty finding the site, however we did come in after dark which made it a little challenging. I’m sure it’s easier during the day. Would definitely recommend camping here if you are in the area!
