Semaphore Farm is a 400-acre property with convict history, bordering the Port
Artur historic site. It is a private timber reserve and a working forest farm. We have a combination of native eucalypt forest and plantation, and we grow hay and our own beef.
We have many walking and bike trails through 150 acres of forest and pasture accessible to campers.
The campsite has spring water on tap, a hot shower, toilet, rustic camp kitchen, wood stove, gas BBQ, level sites, and a campfire when permitted. Tent sites are flexible so you can choose your own space within a 2-hectare area, while Level pad sites are limited.
The Port Arthur Historic Site and a safe swimming beach are within walking distance and Safety Cove and Remarkable Cave are only a 5-minute drive away. Longer walks, including the Three Capes tracks, are easily accessible.
Launch your boat nearby to access good fishing or fish for squid off the Port Arthur jetty.
There is plenty of wildlife to see at night and birds during the day. You might even see our resident Wedgetail Eagle!
Dog-friendly (must be under control/on a lead/contained).
This was a great place to camp with a fantastic position. All the facilities I needed and more. I ended up staying 2 more nights than I originally planned and will stay there again if I am ever down Port Arthur.
This is a great spot to explore Port Arthur and surrounds. A
Little steepish but level pads and a lovely big grassed area at the bottom.
Amenities are good and clean.
Adriana is a lovely person who has great stories of her families beginnings and the history behind this property.
A great spot to explore the peninsula. A little steepish when entering but the level pads a great. Plus there’s an area in the lower section that is ok for vans. This has a great view. Lovely field surrounded by tall gums. Lots of wildlife around.
Walking distance to the historic Port Arthur site.
We met Adrianna who gave us a great talk on how her family purchased this farm.
Will certainly come back again.
Thank you
Adriana’s property contains a lot of history. We were very pleased that Adriana took the time to visit the campsite and welcome all new campers . She provided a lovely story about how the campsite came to be and her and her husbands visions for the land they own. Please stop in, enjoy the campsite and it’s surrounds.
