The original property started as nearly 100 acres of cattle farm lands. The property was purchased in the 90s to be used as grazing land for the Thomas Families horseback riding business. The Thomas family sold the horseback business in the early 2000s but kept the farm and subdivided it into 4 tracts. The original farmhouse still exists on the neighboring property. Nearly 20 acres of the property is currently used as pasture for cattle, chickens, horses, and goats. Views of Catback Mountain, Kennedy’s Peak. Plenty of hiking trails on property and property boarders George Washington National Forrest.  There is one semi-private campsites that we rent out via HipCamp. Passage Creek runs right next to the site to allow some privacy, since it is in the mountains noise does tend to carry but should not be problematic. The site allow you to set up tents or campers close enough to the creek to allow the flowing of water to lull anyone to sleep. Views of Catback Mountain, Kennedy’s Peak. The site is on the other side of Passage Creek which requires a vehicle capable of driving across 8-24" of water. Please remember this is an operating farm, there may be times during the day that you hear heavy machinery such as tractors or skid loaders.

Very private, large campsite. Creek was so much fun for the kids, you could hear it from the campsite which was nice at night. The crossing was not bad at all even with the recent rain. When we stayed the cows were rotated to a further field so they were not up close to the site. 2 picnic tables and lots of firewood at site, although they were big pieces. Convenient to George Washington forest trails, Luray, and Shenandoah. Great stay

Lovely weekend stay
Tent · With pets
Jacob and his husband were very welcoming! The location, set-up, and communication were stellar. Lots of land and small hiking trails to explore on the property. There was also a lot of firewood available on the land. The privacy was amazing too! Only thing to be aware of are the ticks. We found a total of five on our fellow campers and dog by the time we departed. This is to be expected anytime you’re in tall grasses and the forest, but still a good reminder.

This is a very quiet spot, trails on property are nice and the variety of animal neighbors (domestic and wild) made our stay better than expected. Host was very helpful with directions and local recommendations!

Had an absolutely lovely weekend camping at Husker Haven! Grateful for the notice about needing a car with 8in of clearance to drive through the creek, and the site is perfect - level, beautiful space in the field, overlooking the creek. Jacob was helpful and communicative, I had no issues finding the place or finding stuff to do for the weekend with his help and recommendations. Would absolutely stay again!

The site itself is gorgeous, and the hosts are lovely. However, to get to the site, campers MUST HAVE A JEEP or similar vehicle with pretty high clearance and good suspension to get across the creek, which has pretty steep inclines on both sides as. Depending on recent rains, the creek could also be much deeper than expected, hence the need for a Jeep or other high-clearance vehicle that can navigate both water and rough terrain. Also, be aware that you will NOT have cell service on site until you check in and log into the available WiFi. That means you'll need to text/call the host well before arriving to let him know when to expect you or you might show up and have no one there to greet you and no way to contact them.

Lovely creekside site! Creek on one side, grass field on the other - heaven on earth for my dog. Plenty of fire wood available. Jacob is very welcoming and makes it obvious that his intentions are to make you the most comfortable on his property. Will definitely stay again if in the area.
