Best for self-contained campers. There are no toilets, showers, or potable water at this Hipcamp.
We own a 39 acre property on the east side of Ashland, WI. There are three primitive/walk in (no water available, no facilities, no tables) campsites available and a couple of trails. More trails to come. Enjoy the night sky as many, many stars are visible. The property is mostly wooded and can be wet in spots during the spring. You are allowed walk the site off trail at your own risk.
Please park your vehicle as close to one side of the driveway as possible as not to block the driveway so if needed the tower company has access to the tower.
Please do not walk in the cleared area near the front of the property to the right of driveway/access road, as this area has been planted with Christmas tree saplings.
There is a dedicated campfire square in the site. Please do not burn outside of this area. There is plenty of dead and down firewood to collect in the nearby woods – some may need to cut to size.
There are no garbage cans on site, so please pack out what you pack in.
Hike to the sites:
Campsite 1 – Near County Highway A – just past gate. Large enough for two 4 person tents
Campsite 2 – From gate - .10 mile hike – large enough for a 4 person tent
Campsite 3 – From gate - .13 mile hike – large enough for a 3 person tent

So that you are aware: Hipcamp will be adding a "service fee" (15-20%) when you complete the booking to cover their site management and other things. I don't get any of this service fee and they also take an additional 10% from the price I list to cover the $1 million in insurance for you.
Exactly what I expected and more. Either Kevin or a former camper left enough wood for the night. Appreciated that.
Everything was clean and the grass was kept short on trails. You are close to the road but the woods are so thick that it feels private even in the closest campsite. If you need a site in between Copper Falls and Bayfield ,for the money, this is your spot. I've been to a lot of different places in Wisconsin this year and the mosquitoes were honestly less here than most of them.
Really good price for what you’re getting! Not far from all the fun towns. The bugs were bad but nothing we couldn’t handle. Super easy directions to follow to get to the campsites. The stars were beautiful out there and we got to hear some coyotes! Also cell service was awesome.
Campsite was very large to accommodate if you were to choose to bring pets. It was nice because we felt like we were away from the touristy-ness of the apostle islands, but yet close enough to go out and hike and see Madeleine island. It’s about a 40 minute drive to Bayview. I also enjoyed not having any campers nearby. However, our first night there was someone in a distance constantly yelling at their dog. Not loud enough to ruin our stay. And you can hear traffic going by.
I am giving the site a 4 because The woods are very dense so it was a challenge to make a spot in the woods to go to the bathroom, but possible. We found 1 tree through the brush that would help with holding up food from Bears and critters. Otherwise, most of the trees are small and skinny. The tree styles also made it challenging to find a place to hang a solar shower, but we made it work.
