A small homestead on the bank of Abbotts Creek near where it feeds into High Rock Lake. Peace and solitude , but close to the amenities of town. Less than a five minute drive to the grocery store, and less than a fifteen minute drive to uptown Lexington. Public access for kayaks is less than half a mile away. And the view is unbelievable! We have a corn hole board and bags now available for use, as well as a few other yard games. Please let us know if you are interested in using them. The edible landscape is available for you to enjoy. A list of current available items is posted in our greenhouse, as well as baskets for picking and foraging.

Abundant wildlife including deer, turkey, opossum, raccoon, skunk - even the occasional bear, coyote, and wild boar have been caught on game cameras. Only 1 hour from Charlotte, Winston-Salem and Greensboro, yet feels like a world away. 30 minutes from the North Carolina Zoo and the Carolina Treetop Challenge at Rock Creek Park. Minutes from Historic Gold Hill, Tuckertown Reservoir, Uwharrie National Forest and Badin Lake. To ensure your privacy and solitude, only one booking is available at a time. Tents only please; as the road to the campsite is narrow and. AWD or 4WD may be required during wet weather. Cars that are low to the ground are not recommended. We have table and chairs, fire pit, water, trash bin, toilet, a canoe and noodles to use in pond. PLEASE NOTE: Due to insurance coverage, fireworks, firearms and ATV's of any kind ARE NOT permitted.

A family of 9 children were all born in the old farm house that has since burned when struck by lightning in 2009. Our farm is a beautiful, private 25 acres with an 1830s house, outbuildings, animals, orchards, gardens, pastures, old trees, wildlife habitat, a spring, and woods. Here you can relax; watch nature; meet our chickens, goats, horse, cats, and dog; learn about archaeology, history, plants, and mead making; and get eggs and homegrown seasonal food. Listen to birdsong and watch clouds during the day, wander a path through our ca. 5 acres of woods, see fireflies in the evening, and star watch at night. Nearby are hiking, horseback riding, historical sites, fishing, antiques, wineries, shooting, and more. We are located in a rural area and have many different domesticated and wild animals so you may hear diverse animal noises and see or smell animal poop, although we try to keep things clean and tidy. Our neighbors have dogs, cattle, and chickens/roosters and occasionally shoot guns during daylight hours (one neighbor is a sporting club with skeet shooting and hunting dogs) but typically our farm is a quiet and peaceful place. We mow regularly and our rooster and chicken ladies wander far and wide eating bugs but, in the summer, they can't get every mosquito and tick so please plan accordingly for your own comfort.

The property is located on a large lot, approximately 2 acres, this is half wooded and half clear land. i have a parking rock driveway, If you have animals, they are welcome too. i do not have sewer hookup but will allow you to use water. This property is 20 min from uptown charlotte, 10 min from UNCC, 10 min Northlake Mall, 15 min from Concord Mills Mall. 37 min to Lake Normal, 20 from the Airport, 77, 85, 485, about 10 each way from parking spot. Restaurants nearby is about .7 miles. Entrance is on the Hubbard Rd side.

I camped at Yates as part of the Uwharrie Thru-hike, a yearly event hosted by the Central Carolina Land Trust. It is beautiful, remote, and surrounded by tons of hiking and nature.
